New Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith wasn’t a household name Ryan Tannehill Jersey White , and there’s no evidence he knows Sean McVay.But Titans coach Mike Vrabel thinks he’s a good fit for what they need, offering something approaching stability for quarterback Marcus Mariota.Mariota is now on his fifth coordinator in as many years, but Smith was at least on staff (tight ends coach) so there’s familiarity there.鈥淚 think it鈥檚 what鈥檚 best for Marcus, and best for a lot of guys,鈥?Vrabel said, via Jim Wyatt of the team’s official website. 鈥淲e make decisions that are for the best interest of the Titans, and Marcus is a huge part and so are all of our other players.鈥淭his is the best thing for us, to continue down that path. We鈥檙e happy, I鈥檓 happy, and I am excited to give Arthur this opportunity and I know the coaches and players are excited as well.鈥漅eplacing new Packers coach Matt LaFleur is a big step for Smith, but Vrabel said he was comfortable with the choice after talking to a small group of options.鈥淯ltimately it was easy, at the end,鈥?he said. 鈥淲e try and do our due diligence with everything we do. 鈥?We felt like in the end this was the best thing for us, and the right thing.鈥滻f things are largely the same, Mariota can focus his energies on physical recovery this offseason, and not worried about learning a whole new playbook. What to watch for during Titans-Buccaneers The Titans are back in preseason action tonight as they host the Buccaneers at Nissan Stadium following a couple joint practices during the week. As always, the primary objective is to get out of the game with no major injuries, but here are a few other storylines to keep an eye on during the game. The preseason debut of Corey DavisGeorge Walker IV-USA TODAY SportsCorey Davis seems to be on track to take the field in a preseason game for the first time tonight. We don’t know how long Davis and the other starters will play, but even seeing him work with Marcus Mariota for a drive or two would be a very positive step. The Titans need their 2017 first round pick to play like the star they drafted him to be this year. With Rishard Matthews’ status still up in the air and Eric Decker dropping balls in New England, the Titans are putting a lot of eggs in the Corey Davis basket. The good news is that Davis has looked like one of the best players on the field during training camp. He still has moments of inconsistency, but he’s also making a ton of plays and has turned in some truly unbelievable catches while working against a very good group of cornerbacks. The Titans offense targets him frequently in the passing game in practices and I would expect that to be the case tonight as well. Davis turning in a strong performance and helping the first team offense click like it did in Green Bay would be a great first step for the second year wide receiver.Taylor Lewan vs Jason Pierre-PaulChristopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsDuring the Titans-Bucs joint practices this week, Pierre-Paul got the best of Lewan in a couple reps Tajae Sharpe Jersey White , including one that the Bucs’ Twitter account put out from a one-on-one pass rush drill. Pierre-Paul then scoffed at Paul Kuharsky when he asked him about competing against Lewan, acting like he dominated the Titans left tackle. JPP is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL so there is no shame in getting beat by him on a couple reps, but knowing Lewan’s personality I wouldn’t be surprised to see 77 come out with an extra large chip on his shoulder when he lines up against Pierre-Paul tonight. This should be a fun battle to watch. Wide receiver rotationUSA TODAY NETWORK-WisconsinWe know that Corey Davis will likely get the start at one wide receiver position, but I’ll be interested to see who is taking the first team reps opposite him. That had been Taywan Taylor’s role for the majority of the offseason, but Tajae Sharpe has reportedly gotten some reps there this week as well. I would still expect to see Taylor open the first drive with the starters, but it’s possible that Sharpe gets a reward for a strong week of practices. In the slot, I would still expect to see Nick Williams working as the top option inside with Michael Campanaro continuing to deal with whatever injury is holding him out of practice, but it will be interesting to see if Deontay Burnett gets any run earlier in the game. Burnett continues to make plays in practice and looked pretty good with limited opportunities in Green Bay, but he’ll need to show more to truly get in the mix for a 53-man roster spot. The other guy I want to see more of is Devin Ross. He’s another undrafted receiver that has shown some promise in camp and had a nice catch and run on a WR screen against the Packers. I think he’s most likely competing for a practice squad spot rather than a 53-man roster spot right now, but he’s been good in camp. Will last week’s stars shine again?Benny Sieu-USA TODAY SportsThe way to earn a role — or a roster spot — during training camp and preseason is to bring it every time out. It’s not enough to just flash once and then coast. Coaches want to see consistency and for bottom of the roster players, they want to see if they can do it against better competition. That will likely be the test for the stars of the Titans first preseason game. Players like Harold Landry, Sharif Finch, Corey Levin, LeShaun Sims, and Jayon Brown will be looking to stack another strong performance as they make a case for a bigger role. Landry, Sims, and Brown are all going to make this roster, but could earn more playing time. The stakes are higher for guys like Levin and Finch who are fighting for roster spots. Adoree’ JacksonChristopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY SportsJackson has been one of the stars of training camp and he may have had his biggest day during Thursday’s practice against the Bucs. He recorded three interceptions during that practice, including this pass in the endzone that he tipped to himself and then celebrated with a casual flip. The flip is cool, but the coverage here is fantastic as he mirrors DeSean Jackson’s route and makes it look easy. I get that his first preseason game wasn’t great. He gave up a couple catches and missed a tackle during the Packers opening drive, but I really think Jackson is going to have a Byard-esque breakout campaign this year. We saw him start coming on late last season and he’s picked up where he left off this year. Keep an eye on 25 tonight.

After the news was announced that the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson had reached a contract agreement late on the Monday night/Tuesday morning deadline Shaun Alexander Jersey , more pact details were announced that..."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections VideosCoffee and CigarettesGame AnalysisThe Numbers GameCigar ThoughtsRussell Wilson contract detailsNew,21commentsPDTShareTweetShareShareRussell Wilson contract detailsKyle Terada-USA TODAY SportsAfter the news was announced that the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson had reached a contract agreement late on the Monday night/Tuesday morning deadline, more pact details were announced that better illustrated just how well taken care of the franchise quarterback is. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport puts the total guarantee at a record $107 million on the total $140 million, four-year deal.Wilson, who was the subject of trade rumors and “four first round picks in return, at least” compensation, also has a no trade clause in his contract, meaning he sees himself as being most valuable and most successful in his career with the Seahawks.OvertheCap.com had estimated his deal to be around three years and $105 million, which is close to true, plus one more year. Consider that Kirk Cousins just signed a three-year, $84 million deal a year ago that was fully guaranteed and this is that much better than that. Of course, Wilson is that much better than Cousins. If you add in the final year of his current deal, Wilson is making $31.4 million per season over the next five seasons. Overall, he signed a record-setting deal, got it out of the way before all the offseason programs and the draft, solidified himself as a Seahawk for at least the majority if not all of his career, and simplified the job that John Schneider and Pete Carroll have to do with their 2020 free agents like Frank Clark, Jarran Reed, and Bobby Wagner.Onto the next one. In my opinion, the biggest move of the Pete Carroll and John Schneider era was the trade acquisition of tight end Jimmy Graham. Coming off of back-to-back Super Bowl appearances and a loss to the New England Patriots in which things like “They have no red zone threat like Rob Gronkowski” were uttered constantly, the Seahawks gave up Pro Bowl center Max Unger and a first round pick for Graham and a third round pick from the New Orleans Saints. The NFL’s most successful team en total from 2012-2014, which had tried and failed to find a franchise tight end after signing Zach Miller and drafting the athletic Luke Willson, and whom were led in receiving yards by Doug Baldwin at 825 with second-place Jermaine Kearse only clocking in at 537, added a player with three Pro Bowls in the previous four years and 51 touchdowns in five seasons. The most touchdowns scored from 2012-2014: Marshawn Lynch at 43. The fourth-most: Graham, at 35.How could it fail? Apparently by not knowing what you had or not knowing what you really wanted.Graham’s inability to block anyone was and is well known, but on the day of the trade Carroll and Schneider focused on what he could do in the red zone as a “complementary” piece of the offense:It was a high price to pay for someone who only complements your offense, especially when you weaken the blocking at both center and tight end in a single move. And the reality seemed to be that even if Graham was only a “complementary” piece, Darrell Bevell still didn’t really ever find the groove of if he was a piece or the centerpiece to the offense. Nobody was happy when he received only two targets in his second game with the team, a 27-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers. And it didn’t really seem to matter when he was the focus of the offense in a 27-23 loss to the Carolina Panthers in which he had 12 targets, eight catches, and 140 yards. After Graham tore his patellar tendon and went on injured reserve, Russell Wilson went 109-of-158 for 1,301 yards, 16 touchdowns and one interception http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-shaquill-griffin-jersey , with a rating of 125 and a Y/A of 8.23. Wilson was hot with Graham too, but maintaining that same level of heat without him put a stamp on the note that says, “Jimmy Graham doesn’t matter.”That’s not to say that Graham isn’t a good player or the right player for the right team, but his lack of meshing with a Pete Carroll offense in Seattle made the move all the more confusing and could imply that not all in the front office are always on the same page. “Add a Pro Bowl tight end to the NFL’s best team and they need a red zone threat” makes the most sense in the world, but “Add a blocking liability to an offense with a head coach who has said since day one that he wants to run the football more than any team in the league” is a head-scratcher.Carroll even admitted that they knew Graham couldn’t block when they acquired him: during a 2017 offseason “We swear, this is improved” type quotable moment, which come on we all knew wasn’t true, Carroll says that Graham had become a much more complete football player that year:Graham’s 2016 season seemed to be his most effective, but he was perhaps most effective everywhere but the red zone, where he caught six of 17 targets for four touchdowns. Want to add Graham so that you have a big threat to throw to when you’re at the 1-yard line hint hint? Graham received three targets inside the opponents’ 10-yard line and he caught one of them, which was a touchdown. In 2015, those numbers were three of eight in the red zone and two of four inside the 10.Now compare that to Doug Baldwin, who is rarely mentioned as a “red zone threat” because we spend all of our time believing — as Carroll and Schneider clearly do — that bigger is better if you’re inside the 10:Baldwin caught 9 of 15 red zone targets for six touchdowns in 2015 and two of five for two touchdowns inside the 10. In 2016, he caught 11 of 15 red zone targets for six touchdowns and four of seven inside the 10 with three scores. Over that two year span since acquiring Graham, Graham caught nine of 25 red zone targets with five touchdowns, while Baldwin caught 20 of 30 for 12 touchdowns.Did Graham’s presence alter Baldwin’s ability to be open or to make those scores? I can’t say without going over each play, but in general we still know this: Graham was absent when Baldwin caught eight touchdowns in a four-game span in 2015, Graham still only caught nine of 25 targets himself which is very bad for a player you acquired to do red zone things, and Baldwin is still doing it.He’s caught 5 of 11 red zone targets this year with three touchdowns and he’s been injured for most of the year. Graham has caught three of eight with the Packers for two touchdowns. He’s only one of five inside the opponents’ 10.What Baldwin does have this season that he didn’t in the previous three is a combination of tight ends who are both adept at blocking and capable of providing production in the passing game as receivers. This is probably thanks to a combination of things: the addition of Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator, the addition of Mike Solari as offensive line coach, Russell Wilson being one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, tight ends coach Pat McPherson because why not shout out the TE coach in a TE article, and of course the offseason moves to acquire Ed Dickson and Will Dissly.Who unfortunately never got to play together but who have picked up the slack in the absence of the other.Last season, Graham caught 57 of 96 targets for 520 yards and 10 touchdowns. His 5.42 Y/Target was the ninth-worst in the NFL for any player with at least 50 targets, and four of the players who were worse than him are running backs. Only Zay Jones, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Cole Beasley, and Corey Coleman were worse at WR or TE.On the road last season, Graham averaged only 4.55 Y/Target. In the all-important NFC West games, he averaged 4.21 Y/Target.But finally there was the red zone “complement” we were promised. Wilson went to Graham 24 times in the red zone and he caught 15 of them for 10 touchdowns. Inside the 10, he had 16 targets, eight catches, all of which went for scores. It came in handy in the shootout against the Houston Texans, in which two scores gave Seattle the lead when they were trailing Bobby Wagner Jersey Green , both in the fourth quarter. However, what we’re seeing in 2018 is that Wilson doesn’t need Graham in order to score touchdowns. Not in the red zone, not anywhere on the field. With one more touchdown, Wilson will break his own single-season record and he’ll do it having potentially thrown a career-low in interceptions with a career-high in sacks taken. And it’s with a group of tight ends that cost a total of $3.2 million, 5th-cheapest in the NFL. Graham is the league’s highest-paid tight end at $10 million annually.Graham’s catch rate in 2017: 59.4%. The Seahawks’ tight ends catch rate in 2018: 71% with 8.44 yards per target. The lead man is Nick Vannett, Seattle’s third round pick in 2016. Thanks to injuries to the other two, Vannett has received the most snaps and 40 targets, catching 27 for 252 yards and three touchdowns. He has caught four of five targets in the red zone, with two going for scores. Both of those touchdowns came on targets inside the 10.Whereas Graham is 22nd in DYAR and 25th among tight ends in DVOA in Green Bay, Vannett isn’t far behind at 30th in each.Dickson returned to the team in Week 8 after starting the season on NFI and he’s gained more snaps over Vannett as the year goes on. Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Dickson had 64 snaps compared to 33 for Vannett. It was a similar ratio the week prior against the San Francisco 49ers. Renowned for his blocking, Dickson too has had some pretty poor Y/Target times in his career (5.93 with the Baltimore Ravens in 2011), but the Seahawks are putting him in position to succeed when he does get a target. He’s caught 12 of 13 for 143 yards and three touchdowns. He’s had four red zone targets, catching three, with two touchdowns. Dickson hasn’t had enough qualified targets yet, but his DYAR would rank 13th and his DVOA would rank first by a significant margin. And Will Dissly, the team’s fourth round pick this year, was Seattle’s star during their 0-2 start, catching six of 10 targets for 147 yards and two touchdowns. He caught just one of three for four yards in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys, then like Graham before him, tore his patellar tendon in Week 4. Dissly caught both of his red zone targets, both of which were touchdowns.Add it up: Wilson has targeted his tight ends 11 times in the red zone and they’ve caught nine of them, scoring six times. And they can block. And it costs the Seahawks $3.2 million.(The other two tight end targets: One to George Fant for nine yards and one to Tyrone Swoopes for 23.)In addition to that, Jaron Brown has caught six of six red zone targets with five touchdowns and Tyler Lockett has caught five of six for three touchdowns.Certainly there’s also some contribution there to the run game, which has gone from 23rd in DVOA in 2017 to eighth this season. “Jimmy Graham’s on the field” was a pretty big tell in 2015-2017 that they were going to pass it and not ask Graham to block anyone. “Ed Dickson or Nick Vannett is on the field” is not. Maybe that’s a reason why RPO is pretty much only Run-In-Shotgun now because there doesn’t have to be as much deception before and just after the ball is snapped. “Yeah, we are going to give it to Chris Carson and run him behind George Fant, we believe in that.”Even if you don’t, Carroll does, and it seems to be so much more in line with who he’s been as a coach for most of his career.Meanwhile, Wilson’s looking down the barrel at something new in his career: With a red zone touchdown on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals he’ll be at 22 for the season, a new career high. Maybe he’ll target a tight end.Maybe he doesn’t need to.

The 49ers second round selection is down to two numbers"Other than finalize their undrafted free agents Roger Craig Jersey , the next thing the San Francisco 49ers need to do is sign their rookies to contracts and assign jersey numbers. The trade of linebacker Dekoda Watson opened the door for first round selection Nick Bosa to wear No. 97. I’ve seen people complain “where’s the respect for Bryant Young”, as if Watson didn’t just wear the number last year. That’s silly. As for the second round selection, Samuel took to Instagram this afternoon to ask fans what jersey number he should wear.Having worn No. 1 at South Carolina, Samuel would have to wear something in the teens or the 80’s. With slim pickings, he’s down to No. 17 or 19. I reached out to him and let him know that we would vote. I don’t know what sort of impact we’ll have on his decision, but if a player sees a poll that’s slanted in one direction heavily, he might take that into account. Who knows? Here’s a poll. You decide:5 looming problems from the 49ers’ embarrassing loss to the Cardinals The 49ers had 33 first downs. The Cardinals had 10. The 49ers ran 92 offensive plays. The Cardinals ran 49. The 49ers gained 447 yards of offense. The Cardinals gained 220. The 49ers had the ball for 40 minutes. The Cardinals had it for 20. Get the idea?Well, after all that, San Francisco found itself on the receiving end of their fourth loss on the season, 28-18. The one statistic I didn’t list that turned the game upside down? Turnovers — Cardinals forced five of them, San Francisco didn’t force any. Two C.J. Beathard interceptions and three fumbles later, Kyle Shanahan’s team couldn’t dig themselves out of that hole.Sitting at 1-4 and heading into a Monday Night showdown against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, what are the 49ers’ biggest problems?1. The injuries are piling up and it’s making Shanahan’s life extremely difficult. In the NFL, injuries are a part of the game, but I can’t remember a team that’s been as banged up as the 49ers have. Coming into today, San Francisco was already starting a backup quarterback, running back and wide receiver on offense. To add to that, the 49ers lost running back Matt Breida (ankle) for the second half of the game, and offensive lineman Weston Richburg (knee) for 13 snaps. One of the biggest keys for an offensive unit is cohesion and chemistry. With various players getting hurt on a weekly basis, it’s making life difficult for Shanahan to create a game plan. As part of my keys to the game, I mentioned Breida needing to be a driving force on Sunday. Yet, less than a half into the game, the second-year running back was out of the game, completely shifting the game plan. That loss combined with the 49ers trailing, and Beathard was forced to attempt 54 passes — far too many for him.2. Mental defensive breakdowns can’t continue to happen. On the Cardinals’ opening drive, before most fans could set their drink down, wideout Christian Kirk was taking the pass to the end zone for a 75-yard touchdown. At first glance, it seemed like Kirk had blown by 49ers’ corner Ahkello Witherspoon and it was just a phenomenal throw from quarterback Josh Rosen, but actually it was a mental lapse on the part of the 49ers.Free safety Adrian Colbert was responsible for staying high and helping Witherspoon over the top. Instead, the second-year safety bit on an underneath route, allowing Kirk to get behind the defense and make the easy reception. These kinds of defensive mistakes can’t continue to happen, especially if the 49ers are going to be a team that’s relying on the ground game and stout defense to win games on a weekly basis. But I should add, aside from this one play Arik Armstead Jersey White , the 49ers’ defense was excellent for the rest of the afternoon, making Rosen and Co. look pretty average. 3. San Francisco needs to add pass rushers in the offseason. On defense, sometimes pass defenders can help create a sack and in the same realm, pass rushers can take the burden off of cornerbacks. In the case of the 49ers, corners seem to get blamed a lot of times for poor coverage, but if the pass rush got home sooner, maybe those plays wouldn’t happen.Sunday wasn’t any different, where the 49ers were able to only account for one sack — a Cassius Marsh play, in which the coverage held up really well and Rosen had nowhere to go with the ball.Anyone remotely associated with the 49ers know that it’s a major issue with the team, that they need to address in the offseason. Adding a few players that can pressure the opposing quarterback will make the entire defense look a lot better than it currently is.4. QB C.J. Beathard needs to step up in the pocket more often.Similar to the last problem, the quarterback can make the offensive line look better, by getting rid of the ball sooner. In the case of Beathard, he needs to release the ball sooner, otherwise the turnovers are going to keep piling up.On Sunday, the 49ers’ signal caller was strip-sacked on two separate plays and one of the plays was taken back by the Cardinals for a touchdown. Aside from this, Beathard was sacked twice and hit on numerous other occasions. When the pocket breaks down, more often than not, Beathard’s first instincts are to sneak out right or left, when he should be stepping up into the pocket to escape the rush. Typically, sensing the pass rush is a skill that comes with playing time, but in Beathard’s case it hasn’t improved.Since last season, there’s not a game I can’t recall where the 49ers’ quarterback doesn’t get hit in the backfield. 5. The 49ers schedule doesn’t get any easier from here. When the schedule came out, I knew this early stretch in the season would be tough. They had to play the Chiefs and Chargers on the road, come home to the Cardinals, head back out to play the Packers, and then host the Rams. After dropping the road games to Kansas City and Los Angeles, I was optimistic that the 49ers could beat win-less Arizona at home. Yet, the 49ers are 1-4 and at the bottom of the NFC West. Next up, Aaron Rodgers and the high-flying Green Bay offense on Monday night. I’m assuming that the 49ers will drop that game, then return home to host the Rams the following week. Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff should have a field day against the 49ers’ pass defense. It’s very likely that the 49ers could be 1-6, before the much-anticipated showdown against the Raiders.

The Falcons and Packers had a skirmish on the field after a hit on Aaron Rodgers that some in Green Bay thought was dirty. The NFL ruled that the hit on Rodgers was OK Game Takkarist McKinley Jersey , but what happened afterward was not.Falcons linebacker Deion Jones was fined $33,425 for jumping into a fight in the ensuing skirmish, while Packers offensive lineman Corey Linsley $10,026 for unnecessary roughness as part of the same incident. It all started when Falcons safety Brian Poole hit Rodgers just as Rodgers was sliding to the ground, when some Packers felt he had given himself up and should have been protected. The league office felt that Poole made a legal tackle, going shoulder to shoulder and before Rodgers had hit the ground.Rodgers said after the game that he felt Poole’s hit was a bit late but not an intentionally dirty play. He also said he appreciated Linsley and his other offensive linemen having his back. After last week’s slate of NFL games featured quite a few snoozers, the Week 11 NFL schedule is stacked with exciting games that will have an impact on the playoff picture and 2019 NFL draft. We’ve awarded superlatives to each Sunday matchup to offer a preview of the day ahead. Most likely to cost someone their job: Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m. (CBS)The Bengals already fired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and if Marvin Lewis can’t figure things out, you’d have to expect he’ll be next (though Takkarist McKinley Womens Jersey , the Bengals seem just fine with keeping him no matter what he does). John Harbaugh hasn’t led the Ravens to the playoffs since the 2014 season. If he can’t get his 4-5 squad back on track, he could lose his job at the end of the year. Most likely to sneak into Wild Card weekend: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. (CBS)Andrew Luck has never lost to the Titans. You read that correctly. Both of these teams are looking to make a push to the playoffs, and the winner will get some help this week. Most likely to cause a shift in the playoff picture: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears, 8:20 p.m. (NBC)The Bears enter Week 11 in first place in the NFC North, but if the Vikings win on Sunday, they will move into the top spot. The Bears and Vikings also close out the regular season playing each other in Week 17, so this is just the first of two important meetings for these division rivals. Most likely to be more entertaining than you expect: Houston Texans at Washington, 1 p.m. (CBS)These might not seem like flashy teams Youth Takkarist McKinley Jersey , but both are in first place in their divisions, rank among the top 10 in our power rankings, and should play a game worth tuning in for this afternoon. Most likely to cause a fanbase to lose their collective minds: Pittsburgh Steelers at Jacksonville Jaguars, 1 p.m. (CBS)The Jaguars beat the Steelers twice last season, once in the regular season and once in the playoffs. But Jacksonville is a much different team this year and Pittsburgh has been dominant in recent weeks. A Steelers win would mean the Jaguars’ season is pretty much over while a Jacksonville win would infuriate the masses in Pittsburgh. Most likely to be a blowout: Carolina Panthers at Detroit Lions, 1 p.m. (FOX)The Panthers were on the losing end of a blowout last week and the Lions lost by 12 to the Bears. This week, the Panthers should bolt past a far inferior Lions team and get back on track. Most likely to help a team make an improbable playoff push: Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m. (FOX)Both of these teams have had shaky seasons, but their paths to the playoffs remain alive. The Cowboys are coming off a big win over the Eagles while the Falcons are coming off a deflating loss to the Browns. How will both teams respond this week? Most likely to make you want to shut off the TV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants Takkarist McKinley Men Jersey , 1 p.m. (FOX)The Bucs have the ability to make some impressive big plays but Ryan Fitzpatrick also has the ability to lead the Bucs to only three points on 500+ yards. Odell Beckham Jr. wants you to believe the 2-7 Giants can still make it to the playoffs. In reality, fans of both teams might find themselves reaching for the TV remote mid-game.Most likely to impact the 2019 NFL Draft: Oakland Raiders at Arizona Cardinals, 4:05 p.m. (CBS)The one-win Raiders are currently in line for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft while the two-win Cardinals would have the No. 4 overall pick if the season ended today. A Raiders win could have major implications on the draft order while a Cardinals win would hurt their positioning. Most likely to have more away fans than home fans at the game: Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 p.m. (CBS)Even though the Chargers are one of the AFC’s top teams, their fanbase has been dwindling since their move to Los Angeles. The StubHub Center is filled with more of the visiting team’s fans than the home team’s fans nearly every week. That will likely be the case again today, even though the Broncos have twice as many losses as wins this season. Most likely to go exactly like the oddsmakers are expecting: Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints, 4:25 p.m. (FOX)The Eagles enter this game as the biggest defending Super Bowl underdogs since 2009. The Saints are 9-point favorites to win and we expect them to do just that.

DEKALB Authentic Hayden Hurst Jersey , Ill. (AP) — Northern Illinois has hired former star running back Thomas Hammock as its head coach.Hammock is taking over at his alma mater after spending 16 seasons as a college and NFL assistant — the past five as the Baltimore Ravens‘ running backs coach. With the hiring announced Friday, he becomes the first African-American head football coach at NIU.Hammock fills a vacancy that opened last week when Rod Carey left for Temple after leading the Huskies to a 52-30 record and six bowl games in seven seasons.Hammock ran for 2,432 yards at NIU from 1999-2002 and was first-team, all-MAC two times. Harbaugh coached under Reid from 1999-2007 as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs for the Philadelphia Eagles. Since joining the Ravens in 2008 Authentic Justin Tucker Jersey , Harbaugh has a 100-69 regular season record (.592 winning percentage) and a 10-5 postseason record (.667). Much of his success he owes to Reid and the where he began in the NFL. “We’ve had a lot of conversations about that and they’ve done quite a few little pieces on that, stories on that, so I get asked that a lot – the impact Andy has had on my career, and I’m just grateful,” Harbaugh said of his former mentor. “One of the most important things in any profession – it’s probably true in journalism – is where you start.”“Who you start with really makes a big difference. If you start with people that do it the right way – good people, teach you the right things – it just gives you a chance, gives you a leg up. And Andy, for me, was a big part of that in every way. I learned a great many things from him, and watching his tape now Brent Urban Jersey 2019 , I still learn a great many things from him. Yes, he’s certainly at the top of the business in what he does.”In 14 years with the Eagles, Reid went 130-93 (.583) during the regular season and 10-9 (.526) in the playoffs. In 2004, the Eagles won an NFC Championship and played in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots, where they’d lose 24-21 in last few minutes. Though Reid would get fired from the Eagles in 2012 — after a 4-12 record — his Mark was left on the organization forever. He put together the greatest win total in team history, best winning percentage at that time, finishing with six NFC East division titles and making five trips to the NFC Championship Game. Before Reid became the head coach of the Eagles, Ray Rhodes was the head man in charge. Harbaugh was just with Philadelphia for one year before Rhodes was ousted in 1998. With Harbaugh’s status up in the air with a new regime coming in, he had knew he had a chance to stay on with Reid.“It was a long time ago,” Harbaugh said. “No White Brent Urban Jersey , I thought I had a chance. We had played well on special teams, so you’d like to think that that would have had an impact, and he gave me a chance. That’s the thing: He didn’t have to. Andy did not have to give me a chance coming in at the time. I’m sure he had a lot of people he knew, but he decided to take a chance on me, and like I said, I’ll be forever grateful for that.”Reid has since taken a commanding role with the Chiefs. Kansas City has a 10-2 record and currently hold the first seed in the AFC Playoff race. They also lead the NFL in points scored with 444, are third in total yards (5,246) and third in passing yards (3,798).

Skipper first joined the Panthers in 2002 after spending the 2001 season as head coach of the XFL’s San Francisco Demons. He served as the Panthers running backs coach until John Fox and his staff were let go after that dismal 2010 season. He spent two years with the Tennessee Titans before coming back to Carolina. In his time here, he coached four different running backs to 1000 yard seasons- Stephen Davis, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Christian McCaffrey. But, as Panthers.com mentions in their story Stitched Luke Kuechly Jersey , 2004 may have been his most notable coaching performance:Jim Skipper has been a foundational piece of the Panthers coaching staff for the better part of two decades. He will be missed, but we wish him nothing but the best in retirement. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — There’s been no such thing as a sophomore slump for Christian McCaffrey and Alvin Kamara. The two NFC South running backs have followed up strong rookie campaigns with even better second seasons for the Panthers and Saints, who’ll meet Monday night in a game with big playoff ramifications for both teams.McCaffrey has 926 yards rushing and 701 yards receiving. He has a chance to join Roger Craig and Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk as the only running backs in NFL history to post 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season.Kamara, the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year, has 1 Youth Bruce Irvin Jersey ,384 yards from scrimmage and needs five scores in the final three weeks for a 20-touchdown season.“They’re both highly versatile players,” said Saints quarterback Drew Brees . “So, great in the run game. They’ve got great instincts and a great feel for making cuts, breaking tackles, just a level of elusiveness that’s pretty unique. And then their ability to catch balls and really be receivers outside the pocket is very unique as well.”The only difference in the two this season has been in the win-loss column. The Panthers and Saints have been heading in opposite directions since early November.Carolina (6-7) has lost five straight — despite 747 total yards and eight touchdowns from McCaffrey during that span — and is in dire need of a win to keep its slim playoff hopes alive . Kamara and backfield mate Mark Ingram have New Orleans (11-2) out in front in the NFC and looking to stay a step ahead of the Los Angeles Rams in the battle for the top seed and home-field advantage in theplayoffs. Both teams will be counting on their all-purpose backs down the stretch.“Oh man, he’s a heck of a player,” McCaffrey said of Kamara.McCaffrey said he spends some of his off days studying film on Kamara and looking at some of what he does to see if he can incorporate it into his own game.“It’s been fun watching him and it’s kind of cool Stitched Bruce Irvin Jersey , a lot of similarities obviously in our game,” McCaffrey said. “He’s a good one to watch.”McCaffrey was Carolina’s first-round pick in 2017, while Kamara slipped to the Saints in the third round.Kamara said he and McCaffrey do a lot of the same things, yet still have different styles. But he too keeps an eye on what other backs from the Class of 2017 are doing in the NFL, including McCaffrey.“Christian is a great back,” Kamara said. “We came in in the same class so I think it is just respect for all backs that we came in with whether it’s Christian or Leonard (Fournette) or Dalvin (Cook) or anybody. We all kind of watch each other. We talk in the offseason. He’s having a great year and definitely doing a lot of good things. So I see it.”McCaffrey and Kamara have joined Todd Gurley and Saquon Barkley as the league has put added value in recent years on versatile running backs.Saints coach Sean Payton said that with the formations and the running schemes in the NFL that have begun to resemble college football in terms of zone reads and run-pass option plays “those type of players are a handful.”“He’s very gifted in the passing game, he’s got exceptional vision Youth Graham Gano Jersey , and I think he runs with good balance and power,” Payton said of McCaffrey.“You see him in goal line situations, short-yardage situations. He’s a guy that’s very difficult to defend in space, and I think that’s the same way Alvin is. I think that those are explosive guys that can change the field position very quickly.”

After reportedly agreeing to terms to land free agent linebacker Anthony Barr on Monday, the Vikings defender changed his mind overnight, ultimately choosing to re-sign with Minnesota. Here’s the intriguing part: It was almost the Detroit Lions instead of the Jets.According to The Athletic, the Lions were very big players in the Anthony Barr market, and Barr was high on them too. “The Athletic reported New York’s initial interest in Barr over the weekend. The issue? At the time, it was No. 2 http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-theo-riddick-jersey , not 1, on his list. According to league sources, the top spot belonged to the Lions,” wrote Connor Hughes of The Athletic. While Barr may have preferred the Lions, Detroit had a bigger fish they were looking to catch: Patriots defender Trey Flowers. Understandably, Matt Patricia was fully recruiting Flowers, a player he coached for several years in New England. But Detroit was in a bidding war with former Patriots coach Brian Flores and the Miami Dolphins, who were viewed as the favorites to sign the former Patriot. In the end, Patricia won over Flowers, which allowed the Jets to agree to terms with Barr. Luckily for the Jets Dwayne Washington Jersey White , they were also negotiating with C.J. Mosley, so when the Barr deal fell through, they had their contingency plan in place. As for the Dolphins, they’re still looking to upgrade their edge position after losing Cameron Wake to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. Here’s a look at where all three players involved in this triangle landed:Trey Flowers to Lions - 5 years, $90 million ($56 million guaranteed)Anthony Barr to Vikings - 5 years, $67.5 million ($33 million guaranteed)C.J. Mosley to Jets - 5 years, $85 million ($51 million guaranteed) The Lions could have had Anthony Barr for much, much cheaper than Flowers, but, of course Sam Martin Jersey , there’s no guarantee that Barr would’ve kept his commitment to the Lions, either. As for Mosley, it looks like the Lions got better player for only slightly more. Overall, I’d say things worked out pretty well for Detroit, even if they had to break the bank to get the player they wanted. As they travel to Minnesota for their second divisional game, the Detroit Lions made a couple of noteworthy transactions and designations. First, the Lions activated Andy Jones from off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Jones returned to practice a couple of weeks ago after missing all of training camp and the first eight weeks of the season with an undisclosed injury. He is now eligible to play this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, but there’s a good chance he’ll be a gameday inactive, even though Detroit obviously has a Golden Tate-shaped hole on their roster. To make room for Jones, the Lions waived cornerback Cre’von LeBlanc. That could open up a possibility of Lenzy Pipkins getting some playing time this week. Additionally Womens Jake Rudock Jersey , the Lions downgraded linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin to OUT for Sunday’s game. When that happens on the Saturday of a road game, it typically means the player didn’t travel with the team. That could be good news for Ezekiel Ansah, who was not downgraded from questionable. The Lions’ premier pass rusher has not played since Week 1 because of a shoulder injury. The Vikings also made a curious move this weekend. They promoted WR Chad Beebe to the active roster. This may suggest that WR Stefon Diggs—who has been fighting off a rib injury—may not be able to go against the Lions. Check back with Pride of Detroit 90 minutes before kickoff and we’ll have all of the Week 9 inactives. There are some key players dealing with injuries—Darius Slay, Ezekiel Ansah, Xavier Rhodes, Riley Reiff, just to name a few.

The Buccaneers and Falcons released their initial injury report for the week six match-up and it could provide some optimism for Bucs fans. With a depleted secondary Jameis Winston Jersey White , seeing Jordan Whitehead listed as a full participant is a slight sigh of relief. Not only that, but Beau Allen - who missed the last two games - was back at practice in a limited capacity. Should he play, that would give the Bucs Allen and Vea together for the first time this season as part of the defensive line rotation.O.J. Howard who left the Bears game with a MCL sprain was also back at practice, well ahead of the projected 2-4 week timetable for his injury. On the Falcons’ side, running back Devonta Freeman missed practice with a foot injury and is in serious doubt for Sunday’s game. That would mean the load would fall on Tevin Coleman, as it has for most of the season for Atlanta.Things are looking up for the Bucs on the injury front, but we’re still four days away from the game and a lot can change between now and then. Tampa Bay signed the 2015 first-rounder to a one-year deal earlier this week."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections 2016 NFL DraftInjuriesFree AgencyGame FilmA deeper look at new Buccaneers WR Breshad PerrimanNew,11commentsTampa Bay signed the 2015 first-rounder to a one-year deal earlier this week.EDTShareTweetShareShareA deeper look at new Buccaneers WR Breshad PerrimanDennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY SportsAfter agreeing to trade disgruntled veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week, the Buccaneers suddenly had a dire need for a new speed option at receiver. They decided to fill that need with former first-round pick Breshad Perriman, who signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the team. Perriman, the No. 26 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, was originally set to return to the Browns for 2019. However, the blockbuster trade that sent Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland had Perriman wanting out of his one-year agreement. Suddenly, he was available for Tampa Bay to snatch up. Since I’m Bucs Nation’s resident “UCF guy,” I’m here to provide a deeper look at the career of the UCF product and a projection of what he will bring to Bruce Arians’ offense in 2019.UCF (2012-2014)After playing his high school ball in Georgia, Perriman headed down to Orlando as a two-star recruit. In 2012, his first year with UCF, he caught 26 passes for 388 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 14.9 yards per catch. He further burst onto the scene in 2013, helping put the program on the map during its historic Fiesta Bowl season. The Knights finished that year 12-1, capping it with an upset victory over No. 6 Baylor for what was the school’s biggest bowl win ever (at the time). Perriman caught 39 passes for 811 yards and four touchdowns that season. He posted 20.8 yards per catch, showing off his big-play ability starting as early as the team’s season opener:The Knights repeated as conference champions in 2014, with Perriman being a major reason why. Trailing by four with seconds to go, UCF had one final shot. The team’s standout junior wide receiver found a way to get behind the defense to haul in a game-winning 51-yard touchdown catch that is affectionately remembered as the “Hail Perriman.”He finished that game with 139 yards on four catches (38.4 yards per catch), and went on to cap his college career with a nine-catch, 138-yard performance in the Knights’ bowl loss to North Carolina State. The conference title-clinching catch against East Carolina was Perriman’s most iconic moment at UCF, but his three-year career was more than just that one play. With 50 catches for 1,044 yards and nine scores as a junior, he finished his Knights career with 115 catches for 2,243 yards and 16 touchdowns. In those three seasons, he averaged 19.5 yards per catch.NFL Draft PrepA hamstring injury kept Perriman out of the NFL Scouting Combine, but he was able to raise his stock at UCF’s Pro Day. He put up two sub-4.3 40-yard dash times, which helped propel him into a first-round prospect.Baltimore Ravens (2015-2017)Perriman was selected by the Ravens with the No. 26 pick in the first round of the 2015 draft. An injury kept him out for all of the 2015 season. He finally made his NFL debut in 2016, playing 16 games and catching 33 of his 66 targets for 499 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 15.1 yards per catch, with his longest catch of the season going for 53 yards against the Dolphins on Dec. 4. His production wasn’t exactly up to par for a first-round pick Womens Chris Conte Jersey , but he still flashed a ton of potential, as seen in the video below:The 2017 season was a little tougher for Perriman, as he played just 11 games and caught 10 of his 34 targets for 77 yards. His yards per catch average dipped to 7.7, and his longest catch of the year was just 14 yards. In May of 2018, Baltimore declined his fifth-year option. When roster cuts came around in September, he didn’t make the team. In two seasons with the Ravens, he played 27 games and caught 43 of his 101 targets for 576 yards and three touchdowns. He averaged 13.4 yards per catch. Overall, his time with Baltimore was a huge letdown, especially for a first-rounder. He has been looked at as one of the franchise’s biggest busts ever. Injuries were a big reason why. He had a partially torn PCL that caused him to miss his whole rookie year, a partially torn ACL that cost him some time in 2016 and a hamstring issue that slowed him at points in 2017. Not only did he deal with injuries constantly, but he also failed to put up consistent production and struggled with dropped passes. Cleveland Browns (2018)Despite the injury history and drop issues, Perriman found a new home in 2018. His size, speed and sheer ability clearly never left, so it was only a matter of time before he ended up somewhere. He signed with Washington and was waived five days later, but then signed with the Browns in October. With Cleveland, he played in 10 games (two starts). He caught 16 of his 25 targets for 340 yards and two touchdowns. He put up a whopping 21.3 yards per catch, with a season long of 66 yards.Despite the limited targets, Perriman proved that he could still produce at a high level in the NFL. His catch rate was much better, and he was able to stay healthy. He provided rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield with a solid deep threat, but was also more than just a guy who ran fly routes. Considering he was about to sign on for another year with the Browns, it’s clear that his impact in 2018 was enough for the new staff to want him back as a piece of that young offense going forward. What Perriman Can Bring The Bucs In 2019 For Breshad Perriman in 2019, expectations are surely going to vary. Plenty will say he was and still is a bust, but I’m willing to think that he has a lot to offer the Bucs. He proved last year that when he can stay healthy, he is still a threat. He turns just 26 years old in September, so there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to produce on a Tampa Bay offense that features established pass-catching options like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate. His improved catch rate in 2018 was a step forward, even if it’s not a perfect indicator of his overall performance. But despite his rocky past in the NFL, he is more than capable of fulfilling what the Bucs need him to be — likely a No. 3 receiving option/speed threat. As a replacement for DeSean Jackson, Perriman will be expected to be that go-to guy when the Bucs are looking for the long ball. He can still take the top off the defense, and if Jameis Winston can develop a stronger connection with him than the one he had with Jackson, Tampa Bay may have a huge free agency steal. One positive is that Perriman will likely be used by this new coaching staff in a number of ways — not just for the deep ball. One of the biggest criticisms of Jackson’s time in Tampa was that former head coach Dirk Koetter was locked in on him being a deep ball guy and nothing else. With Bruce Arians, there’s a higher likelihood of innovation with Perriman’s role. There really shouldn’t be too much pressure on Perriman, especially with the rest of the weapons the offense possesses. That should help him ease in and develop a strong rapport with Winston. If he stays healthy, he could be a big boost for the Buccaneer offense in year one under Arians.

Oh man. PDTShareTweetShareShareRaheem Mostert can benefit from Mitch WishnowskySome people like the fact the San Francisco 49ers took a punter in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Some people hate the fact the 49ers took a punter. Regardless of opinion, the 49ers snagged a shiny new punter to replace Bradley Pinion. With that said, we’ll give another reason to have a bit less hesitance towards WishnowskiThe thing about Wishnowsky is consistency.Of his 59 punts in 2018, he forced 24 kicks inside the 20-yard line and 25 fair catches. Yes there’s three blocks in there, but he’s either getting it to the 20-yard line where someone can take down the returner or he’s putting enough hangtime on it so the returner has to flag a fair catch. Enter: Raheem Mostert. Mostert has been kept on the 49ers roster not for his running back skills (that did, however, come in handy for 2018) but for his usage as a special teams gunner. When Mostert went down with the broken forearm in 2018, his absence was felt by the very next game. When he can bullet down the field and take out the poor punt returner is where Mostert’s main skills lie. Ahem, allow me: Combine Wishnowsky’s tendency to pin teams past the 20 or at least have the hangtime to keep them from going anywhere, with a special teams gunner like Mostert who is going to blast anyone who thinks of trying to run with it, and the pass rushing skills of Nick Bosa and company, equals a potential recipe for turnovers. If Wishnowsky can get in position to keep opposing offenses at the 10-yard line Adrian Colbert Jersey , this could be something to watch. An NFL playbook gets limited beyond an offense’s own 10-yard line and if the defensive line can shake things up like we all hope it can, the 49ers can get some pretty nice opportunities. Or it could just not get any turnovers like in 2018...but let’s cross our fingers for this punter. The Atlanta Falcons made one of the first big moves of the offseason following Super Bowl 53 when they released cornerback Robert Alford. The Falcons made the move because Alford had his worst season as a pro, turned 30 this past season, and was going to have a cap hit of $9.1 million this season. The Falcons cleared $7.9 million with the release, so it was not a surprising move.Alford is officially free and clear to sign with anybody that is interested. Players on an expiring contract do not get to negotiate with new teams until March, but because he was released now, Alford can begin negotiating with all 32 teams. The San Francisco 49ers have some questions at cornerback, and as soon as Alford was released, people started asking if the team should look into him. He had a miserable 2018 season, with opposing quarterbacks connecting with receivers for 849 yards and a passer rating of 138.9. If you think he hit the post-30 wall, so be it. But if you think he can rebound, he’s on the radar. The question is how the 49ers should approach the continued building of their cornerback depth chart. You can never have enough cornerbacks in a growing passing league, so I fully expect the team to add at least one cornerback this offseason. Competition is critical, but how would you look to approach it between the draft and free agency?

CINCINNATI (AP) — Hines Ward was Tyler Boyd’s favorite Steelers player while he grew up in Clairton Darqueze Dennard Jersey , Pennsylvania. He loved how No. 86 made the tough catches in the biggest games and helped Pittsburgh win two Super Bowls during his 14 seasons.“He was my guy,” the Bengals receiver said. “Everything about him was good. He was quick, aggressive, he was smart, just a guy that everyone looked up to in the Pittsburgh area.”Boyd got to know the Steelers when he went to Pitt, which shares Heinz Field with the Steelers. Instead of being drafted by them in 2016, he wound up going to the rival Cincinnati Bengals Giovani Bernard Jersey , who were looking for a slot receiver to complement A.J. Green.Boyd immediately redirected his goal toward beating his beloved black-and-gold team. So far, he’s 0-for-4.The Bengals (4-1) have dropped six straight to the Steelers (2-2-1), a streak that’s the talk of the town as Pittsburgh arrives for a game Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium. Boyd has played in three of the games. All three times, he has walked off the field watching thousands of Steelers fans twirl their Terrible Towels — a scene he once enjoyed.“I haven’t beaten them once, so that would mean everything to me,” Boyd said. “Just with all my friends and family and fans coming to watch, I can start bragging a little and talk a little noise and stuff.”So far Michael Johnson jersey , there’s been little to talk about.Boyd had his best game against the Steelers as a rookie. He caught six passes for 78 yards in the second game of the season, a 24-16 loss in his return to Heinz Field. He also had a decisive fumble. He caught a pass at the Pittsburgh 33-yard line and was stripped by James Harrison. Pittsburgh recovered with 1:50 left, ending the Bengals’ comeback attempt.Boyd had two catches for 13 yards in the rematch at Paul Brown Stadium, a 24-20 Steelers win .Last year, Boyd suffered a knee injury and missed a 29-14 loss at Pittsburgh . He had two catches for 15 yards in a 23-20 loss to the Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium. Thousands of Steelers fans twirled their towels as Pittsburgh ran off the field after Chris Boswell kicked a 38-yard field goal on the final play. The scene was familiar to Boyd, who attended a handful of Steelers games as a youth.“They were all loud and crazy, so I’m expecting that Kevin Huber Jersey ,” Boyd said. “But a lot of games get like that at some point in the game. I think we’ll do a better job of keeping them quiet this game.”The Bengals are counting on significant contributions from Boyd, who is having his best season. He leads the team with 30 catches — Green is second with 26.Boyd knows many of the Steelers from his playing days at Pitt, when they used the same stadium.“When we were at practice, me and James (Conner) always talked to (Mike) Tomlin and Le’Veon (Bell) and AB (Antonio Brown),” Boyd said. “I would ask AB how he would work a route in certain coverage, just little things like that.“I had a good relationship with those guys when I was at Pitt. It’s fun to play against them now.”NOTES: Running back Giovani Bernard was ruled out Friday with a knee injury, the second game in a row he’ll miss. … Tight end Tyler Kroft also is out with a foot injury. … Center Billy Price will miss his fourth game with a partially torn ligament in his right foot. … Cornerback William Jackson (knee) Clint Boling Jersey , receiver John Ross (groin) and offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (wrist) are listed as questionable.

BRB writers gather to present their top two free agent targets for the Houston Texans."This week Whitney Mercilus Jersey , I asked the BRB staff which two free agents they would most like to see the Texans land. The “legal tampering” free agency period begins March 11th and runs through March 13th, with the free agency signing frenzy officially starting on March 13th at 3:00 PM Central time. There are lots of varying opinions below of which two free agents the Texans should prioritize. For a team that won 11 games in 2018, the Texans have a lot of needs.Free agency should serve as a way to ensure the Texans aren’t desperate heading into the 2019 NFL Draft.Let’s see which two free agents BRB wants the Texans to chase beginning next week!Chris:Rivers McCown:Capt. Ron:Kenneth:Matt Weston:Mike Bullock:There’s a lot of solid logic behind each of these picks, but even if everything makes perfect sense, free agency is often a crapshoot.Look no further than Houston’s signing of Aaron Colvin last year - a player I was hoping the Texans would target.Colvin seemed to be a good fit for the Texans and he was.................not.(Here’s to hoping a lot of this was due to injury and he finds his way in year two.)Who are your top two free agent targets for the Texans? Please use the comments to critique our picks and provide your own as we prepare our minds and bodies for free agency! For the first time in a decade, the top seed in the AFC playoffs goes to a team not led by Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. The Kansas City Chiefs earned the No. 1 seed for the first time since 1997 after switching from Alex Smith to Patrick Mahomes , the sensational second-year star who reminds so many of Brett Favre. The New England Patriots lost five times on the road but still managed to win their customary first-round bye, slipping past the Houston Texans to earn a week off to rest for the 10th consecutive year. They’re the only teams back in the AFC playoffs following a year of comebacks. The Texans return from a year’s absence thanks to the remarkable rebounds of J.J. Watt and Deshaun Watson . The Chargers rode a refined Philip Rivers to their first playoff berth in five years, and the Colts crashed the playoff party for the first time since 2014 behind Andrew Luck’s rousing return .The Colts visit the Texans on Saturday in the wild-card round, and on Sunday the Chargers play at Baltimore, where the Ravens ended a four-year drought by rallying behind Lamar Jackson Justin Reid Jersey , the last of the “Big Five” rookie QBs drafted in the first round, but the first to make it to the playoffs.Strength and weakness of each of the six AFC playoff teams:1. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (12-4). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 4. Last Lombardi: Super Bowl 4, 23-7 over Minnesota on Jan. 11, 1970.SHOOTOUT: The Chiefs haven’t had a true franchise QB since Len Dawson led them to their only Super Bowl title. But after letting him learn the ropes under Alex Smith, Mahomes broke out with one of the best seasons in NFL history for a first-year starter (5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns ). K.C. scored at least 26 points in every game, the only team ever to do so.STRIKEOUT: The defense is a dud. Their four losses this season came when they put forth as much resistance as tissue paper: shootout losses to the Rams, Patriots and Seahawks and a fourth-quarter meltdown against the Chargers. Of course, those are all playoff-bound teams. Don’t forget on offense the ouster of RB Kareem Hunt , who had 14 TDs. The Chiefs have gone 3-2 since cutting last year’s rushing champ.SHOUTOUT: “I always feel like there is a bull’s-eye every week, and that’s OK. That’s the way you want it. We’ve earned the right to be in this position.” — Coach Andy Reid.2. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (12-4). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 5 (tie). Last Lombardi: Super Bowl 51 Martinas Rankin Jersey , 34-28, OT, over Atlanta on Feb. 5, 2017.FAR OUT: At 41, he finally showed signs of age this season. But having Tom Brady on their roster makes the Patriots a title contender. Coming off an MVP season, Brady fell off — by his lofty standards — with 4,355 yards, 29 TDs and 11 interceptions. Getting a week off to rest is important because the Patriots have not been a wild-card team since 2009, when they were blown out by Baltimore.FLAME OUT: Every time Brady has won a Super Bowl ring, he had a star-studded defense helping him. The Patriots have given up 30 or more points five times this season, going 2-3. They haven’t been able to get to the quarterback like last year Jordan Akins Jersey , when they were tied for seventh in the league with 42 sacks. This season, they tied for 30th with just 30 sacks.SHOUTOUT: “11-5 is nothing to be sad about. I mean, we fought pretty hard and put ourselves in a decent position here, and now we’ve got to go try to take advantage of it.” — Brady.3. HOUSTON TEXANS (11-5). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 7. No Lombardis.ROUT: QB Deshaun Watson is healthy again as evidenced by his eight TD throws and no interceptions in the last six games while running for 276 yards and four TDs. DeAndre Hopkins was second in the NFL with a career-high 1,572 yards receiving. J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney combined for 25 sacks and 34 tackles for loss. Watt also forced seven fumbles after playing just eight games over two injury-shortened seasons.POUT: The Texans enter the playoffs thin at receiver behind Hopkins after losing Will Fuller (knee) midseason and Demaryius Thomas , a trade deadline pickup from Denver, to a torn Achilles tendon last month. There is also concern about the porous O-line after Watson was sacked an NFL-leading 62 times this season. That kind of duress can negate any franchise QB. Adding to the pressure is a less-than-impressive ground game.SHOUTOUT: “This team is one of the few teams to come back from 0-3 and to qualify for the playoffs and win the division. We have a tough football team.” — Coach Bill O’Brien.4. BALTIMORE RAVENS (10-6). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 9. Last Lombardi: Super Bowl 47, 34-31 over San Francisco on Feb. 1, 2013.BREAKOUT: The Ravens are dangerous if rookie QB Lamar Jackson shows the same poise he displayed in leading Baltimore on a 6-1 streak after taking over from an injured Joe Flacco. With Jackson efficiently operating the run-pass option , Baltimore controlled the clock and the rested defense manhandled opponents. John Harbaugh’s Ravens boast the NFL’s second-ranked rushing attack and No. 1 defense.DROPOUT: Baltimore beat the Chargers in L.A. on Dec. 22, but QB Philip Rivers should be ready for the rematch against a defense that last week was burned by Baker Mayfield for 376 yards and three TDs. Jackson ran for nearly 700 yards Keke Coutee Jersey , but with only one career game of 200 yards passing, there’s still some question whether he can bring Baltimore back from a deficit with his arm.SHOUTOUT: “This is what a real team looks like. They block out all the outside, turn to each other for strength and are there for one another. … This is the best team I’ve been around.” — Harbaugh.5. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (12-4). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 5 (tie). No Lombardis. Lost Super Bowl 28 to San Francisco 49-26 in 1995.CLOUT: Philip Rivers had a 105.5 passer rating in 2018, equaling his career best. Melvin Gordon had 1,309 yards from scrimmage and 14 TDs and Austin Ekeler emerged as a change-of-pace back. Keenan Allen led the team in catches again but Mike Williams developed into another big-play receiver. The Chargers also aren’t fazed by hitting the road , where they were 7-1 with wins at Seattle, Pittsburgh and Kansas City.DOUBT: The Chargers head into the playoffs with only one healthy starter at linebacker. Denzel Perryman and Jatavis Brown are out with season-ending injuries and their replacements are undersized, something opponents will certainly scheme to exploit. They’ve been outscored 43-14 in the first quarter of the past six games as Rivers has thrown an interception on the first drive in each of the last three games.SHOUTOUT: “We just had to be in the playoffs. Our goal is to try to make a run and try to get to the Super Bowl.” — CB Casey Hayward Jr.6. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (10-6). AP Pro32 Ranking: No. 8. Last Lombardi: Super Bowl 41, 29-17 over Chicago on Feb. 4, 2007.BLOWOUT: The Comeback Colts got into the playoffs with a three-pronged combo they’ve rarely had: balanced offense, stout defense and championship-caliber QB. Andrew Luck came back from a partially torn labrum in his throwing shoulder with the best overall season of his career. The revamped O-line allowed a league-low 18 sacks and the Colts have allowed 16.4 points over last eight games.BURNOUT: The Colts will spend the playoffs on the road with a roster that lacks much postseason experience. Only four players from Indy’s last playoff team in 2014 will be active Sunday: Luck Deshaun Watson Jersey , T.Y. Hilton, Anthony Castonzo and Adam Vinatieri. Take out three players who own Super Bowl rings — Vinatieri, Jabaal Sheard and Najee Goode — and the other 46 players on the roster have a total of six playoff wins.SHOUTOUT: “That’s every team’s goal at the beginning of the season, to get into the dance, and we have climbed the mountain far enough to get into the playoffs. But our ultimate goals are still out there.” — Vinatieri.

The Seahawks got the win on Sunday Womens Frank Clark Jersey , but most fans, analysts, or anyone watching with a normal sense of good football vs bad football, feels that Seattle only got worse against the Cardinals. That could come from just a gut feeling you had watching the offense struggle to get the ball more than a few yards downfield at a time, but advanced metrics will back your feelings up on that.Once the kings of DVOA (first overall from 2012-2015), the Seahawks have now fallen below the very middle of the pack. The Seahawks were 14th in DVOA last week after their decent win at home over the Cowboys, but they’ve fallen to 19th as we approach Week 5. That includes a number six ranking on defense, but almost every expects that to tumble with the loss of free safety Earl Thomas for the rest of the season; Seattle is ninth against the pass and surprisingly enough, tenth against the run. However, they’ve faced the fifth-easiest schedule of offense so far, per DVOA.That will change at home on Sunday against the number one ranked offense of the LA Rams. The Rams are first in passing efficiency and fourth in rushing efficiency. They are ninth on defense by DVOA, including seventh against the pass and 23rd against the run; only fueling Brian Schottenheimer’s fire to keep the ball out of Russell Wilson’s throwing hand.Seattle is 24th in passing and 22nd in rushing. My instincts told me that the Seahawks must have some advantages on special teams, and that is actually true: Michael Dickson is first in punting efficiency and by a fairly wide margin. However, Seattle is in the negative on every other phase of special teams except for punt returns, where they are just above average. They (Sebastian Janikowski) are one of the worst field goal kicking teams in the league so far.Overall, the Seahawks are 14th in special teams, but they could be bottom-five without Dickson. The Rams, long hailed for their special teams prowess under John Fassel, are just 17th in that category so far and Johnny Hekker+punt coverage is only just above average. The Arizona Cardinals were rumored to be moving on from Steve Wilks after only one season prior to their game against the Seattle Seahawks anyway, but Seattle’s 27-24 victory over the Cardinals surely didn’t do him any favors during a 3-13 season. Sure enough, the Cards did fire Wilks on Monday Jason Myers Jersey Green , less than 24 hours after the game. Also fired this week have been Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals, Adam Gase of the Miami Dolphins, Vance Joseph of the Denver Broncos, Todd Bowles of the New York Jets, and Dirk Koetter of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns also have vacant head coaching positions based on firings earlier this season. The Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy following a Week 13 loss to Arizona, which was two weeks after a Thursday night loss to the Seahawks helped solidify that Green Bay was going to miss the postseason barring a miraculous finish. Seattle also shutdown the Minnesota Vikings in Week 14, a win loss for the Vikings that made it clear that the Seahawks would likely be a wild card, and they fired offensive coordinator John DeFilippo the next day. The Vikings missed the playoffs on Sunday after losing to the Chicago Bears. The Carolina Panthers also fired two assistant coaches roughly eight days after a loss to Seattle again sent the teams in opposite directions. As of now, that makes three NFC head coaching jobs available, with the Panthers standing by Ron Rivera, the Vikings by Mike Zimmer, and Washington by Jay Gruden. More jobs could potentially become available, but with this much competition for head coaching candidates already in the mix, it might not be the best timing. How many good head coaching candidates are there out there really? Consider that the Bears are 12-4 in their first season with Matt Nagy, the LA Rams are 24-8 in two seasons under Sean McVay, the LA Chargers are 21-11 in two seasons with Anthony Lynn, and the Indianapolis Colts are 10-6 in the first season with Frank Reich. Change can be good. But hirings like those of Gase and Bowles also drew high praise, while Reich was an afterthought in the carousel last season, so predicting which outcomes will be positive is night impossible.I would doubt that Seahawks defensive coordinator Ken Norton gets much attention if based on the strength of Seattle’s defense this season, unless someone gives him credit for doing so with so many pieces of the puzzle missing. The Rooney Rule does mean that each of these eight teams must interview a minority candidate, but there are also many worthy minority head coaching candidates Dontae Johnson Jersey , which could include interviews with the recently-fired Lewis, Joseph, Bowles, and Hue Jackson, along with former Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard; I would expect Richard to get an interview before Norton.Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer could also have his phone ringing based on a season that saw Russell Wilson throw a career-high in touchdowns while Seattle led the NFL in rushing. The difference between Schottenheimer and Darrell Bevell, who never got a serious look as a head coach? Probably name. But there also more nuances to human beings than that and it’s possible that Schottenheimer is just a better interview, a more charming person, or more impressive in being able to display knowledge of the league. That’s not to say that he is any of those things, I’m just throwing out random examples of what could help a candidate, but if Schottenheimer gets a head coaching job it would not be all that surprising to me.I have no idea what the relationship was like when it ended, and that the fans might hate it, but perhaps a reunion with the Jets, where Schottenheimer was OC for six years, including two AFC Championship game appearances and a top running game, could make sense. I’d think it would be better to pair Schottenheimer with a young quarterback who is already there, rather than an unexciting veteran (Ryan Tannehill, Andy Dalton), and working with Sam Darnold might be in his and their better interest. Just a thought. Or maybe the Cards would like him to take a closer look at their offense while sharing Pete Carroll’s secrets. They’re on the lookout as well and the competition for coaches should be heavy.

According to Packersnews.com, head coach Matt LaFleur will likely hold an interview with Frank Pollack, who served as the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive line coach last season.Pollack is searching for a new job following the Bengals’ firing of Marvin Lewis. Interestingly, Bengals players and fans appeared to think very highly of Pollack — starting running back Joe Mixon among them. In a since-deleted tweet, Mixon said the following:Meanwhile, Josh Kirkendall of Cincy Jungle noted that the Bengals’ rushing success skyrocketed in 2018, thanks at least in part to Pollack’s arrival. Cincinnati ran for just 3.6 yards per attempt in 2017, but that number increased to 4.7 this fall.In addition to those numbers, one statistical metric found Pollack to be a top-five offensive line coach in the NFL. Justis Mosqueda looked at the sacks and tackles for loss in the run game allowed by a coach’s lines over his career J'Mon Moore Jersey White , relative to the league average, summing them up. As of the writing of his article in early December, that analysis put Pollack as the league’s fifth-best O-line coach, among those employed in that role at that time. When looking at Pollack’s history prior to going to Cincinnati, it’s clear to see why his numbers are so good and why teams (and players) would view him in high regard. He coached the Dallas Cowboys’ offensive line from 2013 to 2017, serving as assistant OL coach for his first two years before earning a promotion in 2015. While in Dallas, he helped a group of highly-drafted talent achieve their potential by becoming one of the league’s best lines. Pollack’s first stint as the primary offensive line coach came in 2012 with the Oakland Raiders, and before that he worked for the Houston Texans, where he and LaFleur worked together under Gary Kubiak. The Packers are also scheduled to interview 49ers assistant OL coach Adam Stenavich for this position, with additional interviews possible in the coming days. The Packers still hold ten picks in the upcoming draft, however."The full order of selections for the 2019 NFL Draft is officially set. The league sent NFL teams this year’s list of compensatory picks on Friday afternoon Womens Lance Kendricks Jersey , locking in all of the selections in their official and final slots. As expected, however, the Green Bay Packers did not receive any compensatory picks for 2019. The Packers had received at least one comp pick in each of the last nine drafts, with 2009 being the most recent year they did not have any. This is a result of the team’s decisions during the 2018 free agency period, when they signed more qualifying free agents than they lost. Jimmy Graham was the team’s biggest signing, which more than canceled out the loss of safety Morgan Burnett to Pittsburgh. The Packers did acquire a pair of day-three draft picks in trades during the 2018 season, however. They hold Washington’s fourth-round selection as compensation for trading safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, and they picked up the Seahawks’ 6th-round pick in exchange for backup quarterback Brett Hundley. Those picks are in addition to an extra first-round pick that they added from the New Orleans Saints during last year’s draft. Here is the final list of the Packers’ draft picks:Round 1, pick 12 (#12 overall)Round 1, pick 30 (#30 overall) Round 2, pick 12 (#44 overall)Round 3 Womens Jason Spriggs Jersey , pick 11 (#75 overall)Round 4, pick 12 (#104 overall)Round 4, pick 16 (#108 overall) — from WashingtonRound 5, pick 12 (#140 overall)Round 6, pick 12 (#185 overall)Round 6, pick 21 (#194 overall) — from SeattleRound 7, pick 12 (#226 overall)

Who will stay and who will go from the front seven?"Depth for the Houston Texans’ defensive line has been an overlooked asset for the past couple years. With J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney stealing the spotlight Shane Lechler Jersey White , the deep supporting cast the Texans have on the defensive line has done a stellar job playing their part up front. As a group, they only allowed eight rushing touchdowns in the 2018 season, which was the third least in the NFL.This position was so deep that at times the coaching staff was forced to place significant contributors off the 46 player active game day roster. This luxury may soon be in jeopardy as four players are set to become free agents next week. Angelo Blackson, Christian Covington, Brandon Dunn, and Joel Heath have garrisoned a Texans defensive line that ranked third in the NFL in average rushing yards per game in 2018. With all four players set to become free agents, there likely will not be enough funds to go around to compensate all of them at the salary they are worth. The Texans did not pay a single one of these players over $1 million this past season. They are not likely to get away with such frugal compensation this year...Chart provided by SpotracAll four free agents to be are either 25 or 26 years old and have several more years of good football left in them. It will be a shame to watch one, two, or even three of them not return as they have all recieved significant playing time the past few seasons. Just as in any beauty contest, these four contestants vying for a renewed contract have shown off their respective skills in a variety of disciplines: pass rush, run stopping, versatility, and health. Covington Braxton Miller Jersey White , the only player the Texans drafted out of the group of defensive tackles, is an all-purpose lineman who flashed glimpses of pass-rushing capabilities this past season. Known for his run-stopping capabilities, Covington is a 3-4 defensive end, which means he generally lines up directly over the offensive tackle. In Houston’s defensive scheme, his job is to follow the script while Watt, Clowney, and Whitney Mercilus freelance across the defensive line. Particularly on run plays, Covington has become adept at being an immovable object on the defensive line when runs are directed his way. Along with those run defense skills, Covington has grown into a semi-capable pass rusher. With three and a half sacks last season, he is the most adept pass rusher out of this group about to hit the market. Covington has dealt with several strings of injuries throughout his four seasons. In 2017, he ended the season on IR with a torn bicep. In 2018, he battled a thigh injury among other nicks and bumps. The Texans will keep Covington over Heath, Dunn http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-deshaun-watson-jersey , and Blackson if they want to continue to develop him as a pass rusher and a versatile defensive lineman.Chart provided by SpotracAngelo Blackson is far and away the least-known yet highest-contributing player on the entire team. Taking over 40% of the snaps on defense, Blackson played in all 16 games this past season and stepped up this season as a run stopping defensive end. In a rotation with D.J. Reader, Blackson is a more of a 4-3 defensive tackle who matches up well against offensive guards in the trenches. He usually steps onto the field when the Texans are in nickel and he can line up further inside. For all of his contributions, Blackson goes relatively unnoticed on the defense, leaving the flashy plays and stats to players like Clowney, Reader, and Watt. With one sack and one tackle for loss on the year, keeping Blackson as a Texan may not be the most inspiring move the team makes this offseason. He isn't a stat sheet hero, but a valuable piece to the middle of the front-seven. Along with Blackson, Brandon Dunn can be lumped into the “under the radar” category of Texans. The Texans signed Dunn off of the Bears practice squad in 2015. He has been with the team for four years now and has progressed into a starting nose guard for the defense. At 6’2” and 310 pounds, he is a tough man to move off of the ball. Dunn’s upper body strength enables him to shed blockers and maintain the defensive line of scrimmage for the Texans. Dunn had the pleasure and fortune to learn under Vince Wilfork for two years in Houston and he demonstrated those lessons quite often in 2018.Of the four free agents on the defensive line, Dunn should be the most coveted by opposing teams. A cost-effective defensive tackle is a valuable asset in a league where defensive linemen are garnering enormous salaries. If the Texans are to keep Dunn in the fold, I think they will have to sign him to a long-term deal and pay him between $5 - $6.5 million per year. It should be within salary cap means to keep Dunn Jay Prosch Jersey White , and conversely losing him would leave the team with just D.J. Reader as a defensive tackle option (although he is listed as a DE). Last on the list of upcoming free agents is Joel Heath. He is the only restricted free agent of the bunch, which means that if another team gives him an offer, the Texans have five days to match the offer or let him go. Heath contributed early in the season, but a knee injury, illness, and a lack of production kept him off of the game day roster for the second half of the season. In 2017, Heath had production comparable to what Dunn and Blackson did this past season. But with just five games played in 2018, Heath’s value to the team may not be as high as it once was. With a restricted free agent qualifying offer placed on him, there is a good chance Heath stays with the Texans unless someone actively pursues him this offseason. Each of the four players has several advantages worth keeping them in the mix to be a part of the 2019 version of the Texans d-line. In terms ofsnap counts, Blackson led the way with 430 plays on defense and played in all 16 games. While their production on the field are similar, Dunn should carry more value heading into the offseason due to his position as a NT for the Texans. After a wide-ranging coaching search Womens Geronimo Allison Jersey , the Green Bay Packers have made their choice. On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that the Packers had offered their head-coaching position to Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.Word of LaFleur’s selection came just a day after multiple reports pointed to Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as the team’s next head coach. The two assistants stand in stark contrast in several areas; LaFleur has only run an offense for a single season with only middling results while McDaniels piloted one of the most consistently dominant scoring attacks over the past decade. On paper, McDaniels seemed like the safe choice Green Bay should go in the final years of Aaron Rodgers career. LaFleur, who did not interview with any other team, looked more like a reach.Yet, LaFleur overcame the odds to win over the Packers and secure their head-coaching job. Undoubtedly, much of the 39-year-old coach’s appeal stems from his pre-2018 r茅sum茅. LaFleur first arrived in the NFL in 2008, working as a quality control assistant under Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and alongside offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. LaFleur followed Shanahan to Washington in 2010 where the two first met Sean McVay.Those connections served LaFleur well in the time since. When the Atlanta Falcons hired Shanahan to run their offense in 2015, he imported LaFleur as his quarterbacks coach. Matt Ryan won his first MVP the following season. LaFleur then leveraged that success to reunite with McVay, whom the Los Angeles Rams had recently tabbed as their new head coach. The Rams offense immediately became one of the league’s premier units Jaire Alexander Jersey White , jumping from dead last to sixth in DVOA.That performance helped LaFleur become a play-caller for the first time last offseason with Tennessee. The Titans didn’t thrive under LaFleur’s guidance, finishing 25th in offensive DVOA. Those struggles come with caveats, as Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker missed essentially the entire season, the offensive line had to reshuffle starters on a near constant basis, and Marcus Mariota dealt with a nerve issue that affected his passing all year. Perhaps those personnel issues helped the Packers overlook 2018 when considering LaFleur.LaFleur wouldn’t have secured the Packers job on his r茅sum茅 alone. Since entering the NFL, he has worked in variations of the West Coast offense. Green Bay ran its own variation of the offense during Mike McCarthy’s tenure, and while the scheme will look significantly different under LaFleur, Rodgers and his teammates will not need to learn a completely different football language. That should ease the transition from the old offense to the new.And by hiring LaFleur, the Packers have given Rodgers someone who understands football from his perspective. LaFleur played quarterback at Saginaw Valley State before a brief career in the Indoor Football League. He also coached the position directly for seven years in addition to his eight other seasons as an offensive assistant. That experience could help LaFleur relate to Rodgers in a way McCarthy couldn’t.Additionally, LaFleur reportedly wants to keep defensive coordinator Mike Pettine in Green Bay. Pettine joined the Packers last season and Womens Montravius Adams Jersey , even though his defense fell apart down the stretch, team brass apparently hoped their next head coach would retain him and possibly other assistants from McCarthy’s staff. LaFleur’s willingness to take on holdovers certainly didn’t win him the job, but it might have given him an edge over his competition.Ultimately, though, LaFleur’s offense has to validate the Packers’ decision to hire him. The lack of a top-shelf quarterback and surplus offensive talent in Tennessee hamstrung LaFleur all season, but he found ways to keep the offense afloat on the margins. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the Titans finished the season with an expected completion percentage of 68.7, narrowly beating out the Patriots (67.8 percent) for the league’s top mark. The inability to scheme layups and move the sticks dogged the Packers through 2018. LaFleur should improve that area immediately.Much about the Packers’ late pivot in their hiring process remains unclear, but in the end that doesn’t matter. LaFleur has the job now, and the next few years will either demonstrate that the team made the right call or lead to an even greater overhaul at 1265 Lombardi Ave. Aaron Rodgers missed practice Thursday with his ailing left knee. The Packers star quarterback hopes to return Friday. He needed extra time for rest and rehab after taking a hit from Lions linebacker Christian Jones on the opening drive Sunday.“Yeah http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jamaal-williams-jersey , kind of a setback last week,” Rodgers said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “. . . Got to be in the rehab group again today, got a lot of good work in with [assistant trainer] Nate [Weir] and just hoping I get back out there tomorrow and have a feel-good Friday and a practice [Sunday] and be good to go — hopefully back to where I was in Detroit.”Rodgers has dealt with a strained medial collateral ligament and a deep bone bruise since the season opener. He has played through it the past four weeks.Last week marked the first time Rodgers played with a smaller, lighter knee brace. Now, he might have to go back to the larger brace he wore for the three games immediately after the injury.“I hope not,” Rodgers said. “The goal would be to wear the same brace I wore last week, but I have a lot of faith in our training staff, and we’re going to [use] the brace we feel is most safe and allowing me to do exactly what I’m able to do on Monday.”

On Saturday morning Kerryon Johnson Jersey , I boarded a plane at the Grand Rapids airport with all the optimism in the world. I was headed to Minnesota to cover the team I’ve watched my entire life for the first time as a credentialed media member. Sadly, I went to Minnesota and all of that optimism got stepped on in the Lions’ 24-9 loss to the Vikings. As always, I have thoughts on this game. These are those thoughts. What the hell was this? At this point, the Lions were still in the game. They were down just 17-6 and were starting to put together a decent drive. Then Stafford had this little mental mistake and the Vikings scooped it up and scored the final touchdown that really put the game out of reach. In the press conference after the game, Stafford said he was just trying to do too much on account of the fact that nothing had worked all day. Kerryon Johnson tried to take credit for the mistake in the locker room, but this one is fully on Stafford. 10 times worse than you thought Stafford was right. Nothing was working out for the Lions offense on Sunday, and more than anything Womens A'Shawn Robinson Jersey , nothing was working out for him. Stafford got sacked 10 times in Minnesota and somehow lived to tell the tale about it. That wasn’t all, he also took a chunk of rubber to the eye. Look at this for five minutes and try not to throw up or get super creeped out. You can’t do it. It’s crazy that this happened to Stafford on Sunday because previous to this game, Stafford had taken just 13 sacks. 21 quarterbacks had been sacked more than Stafford in 2018. Now he finds himself back in a familiar territory with the guys at the top like Eli Manning and Deshaun Watson. Shiver!!What happened to the run game? Just two weeks ago, the Lions ran for 248 yards on the Dolphins in Miami and looked like they were one of the most complete offenses in the NFL. That game now feels like it was 10 years ago. In the last two weeks, the Lions have combined for just 100 yards on the ground. It seems just so inexplicable, too. There’s no reason Detroit should looks so impressive running the ball against Miami, Green Bay and New England http://www.lionslockerroom.com/authentic-anthony-zettel-jersey , then turn around and play the way they’ve played the last two weeks against Seattle and Minnesota. Maybe something needs to happen. Maybe the Lions should move on from Jim Bob CooterSeems a bit harsh, right? I did just praise the team’s offense for their performances against the Patriots, Packers and Dolphins. But there’s a lot more bad than good for this team’s offense this year, and you can’t blame the loss of Golden Tate for everything. He was here for it, too. For whatever reason, under Cooter, the Lions refuse to go up tempo Jake Rudock Jersey White , they consistently use LeGarrette Blount in situations that would be way better for Kerryon Johnson, and they constantly run the same old screen plays that bury them over and over again on third down. Those are just a few things that are aggravating. The Lions simply have too much talent on this offense to be stifled in the red zone and not use players in situations that they can succeed in. This all leads back to the guy calling the plays, and that’s Cooter. It’s time for the Lions to find a coordinator that’s willing to do the right things. The question is will that be during the season or after it? We’ll find out soon enough. Lost in everything, the defense actually played wellThe Lions defense made some mistakes early on in the game. Most notable was Dalvin Cook’s 70-yard run. Outside of that, however, the defense really showed up in the second half of this game, even if the score doesn’t represent that. The Lions were able to make Minnesota punt on all of their offensive drives in the second half with the exception of just one Womens Trey Flowers Jersey , when they forced a fumble. That’s has to be promising for Lions fans. Here’s a team that that struggled to stop offenses all year and they ended up holding a team that’s ninth in yards per game to just 283 total yards. That’s 100 less than their weekly average. Snacks has a lot to do with itEveryone will focus on the Tate trade for obvious reasons, but the Damon Harrison Sr. trade is a huge win for the Lions going forward. The defensive tackle had another big performance against the Vikings. The stat line won’t show it—he had just four tackles all day—but if you look for the opposing team’s running back, you will constantly see Snacks right there either making a play or assisting on a play. That’s why if you strip away Cook’s 70-yard run, you’ll see the Vikings only ran for 58 yards. I knew this team was all about the future, but I still thought there was possibility todayNow, I’m not sure. I looked at their game against Seattle as an anomaly at the time. This was something I thought they could get past. Even after the Tate trade, I wasn’t ready to say that this team was done simply due to the loss of one player. But that feels more and more like it might be the case. Have the Lions finally broken my spirit for the 2018 season? I would say yes Womens Eli Harold Jersey , but then I would just get excited again when the Lions beat the Bears next week. There’s no winning here for me or you. HEAR YE! HEAR YE!The white smoke has billowed from the roofs of Allen Park and that means a new Detroit Lions offensive coordinator has been announced by the secret society of the Bearded Council. Pope Darrell Bevell is the chosen one, and now we all must revel in the era of Bevell. Therefore we have called for yet another EMERGENCY PODCAST to discuss our new offensive coordinator overlord. But this week, we brought in some help. Jerry “don’t call me Jeremy” Mallory makes his much-anticipated return to give his thoughts on the hire.Download and subscribe to First Byte and the PODcast here: Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | ART19THIS WEEK ON THE EMERGENCY PODCASTHey! The Lions chose someone that wasn’t from the Patriots tree and wasn’t still in the playoffs. The gang tries to shake off the initial shock of that.Jerry Mallory explains why he’s just lukewarm on the hire, but also has a take on Bevell that leaves room for some serious optimism. How is the Lions’ offense going to change in terms of scheme and personnel with Bevell at the helm? What does this mean for Matthew Stafford? Is this a sign they have less faith in the franchise quarterback? The gang gives their grades on the hire.

The Bengals lost 16-13 to the Steelers in their season finale to finish with a record of 6-10. They also finish with an NFL-leading 18 players on injured reserve and suffered a couple more injuries in their final bout. Considering this is the end of the year Womens Kevin Huber Jersey , it should also be pointed out that the Bengals struggles started before their injured reserve looked like a grocery list. This was a team that didn’t have nearly enough depth, and the coaching staff wasn’t good enough to get anything out of their backups.Cody Core, wide receiver (Arm)Core was knocked out of the game late in the first quarter with an arm injury. He was almost instantly put in an air cast after rolling on the ground after having a pass attempt broken up along the sideline. It looked absolutely ugly from the replay, and there wasn’t much of a question of if Core would return to the game. The question becomes how long of a rehab does Core have ahead of him and whether it will impact his chances of making the team in 2019.Core was replaced by rookie wide receiver Auden Tate, who had hardly played recently despite how thin the team was at the position. Cincinnati was already notably thin at the position coming into the game as A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd were both out.Cordy Glenn Kevin Huber Jersey White , offensive tackle (Ankle)Glenn looked far worse initially when he was rolled up on from behind. Bobby Hart got blown by and his defender dove to recover a fumble he forced, who ended up injuring the Bengals’ prized offseason addition. Glenn was able to put weight on the leg, but was listed as questionable to return.Andre Smith came in to replace Glenn at left tackle as Christian Westerman was in for Alex Redmond at right guard (likely due to his excessive penalties), so the team couldn’t move Clint Boling out to left tackle. The Bengals still struggled to protect Driskel the rest of the game.Prior injuries/InactivesLB Vontaze BurfictCB Tony McRaeOL Cedric OgbuehiTE Jordan FranksDE Kasim EdebaliRB Quinton FlowersWR Hunter SharpNot included in this list are Tyler Boyd and Jordan Evans who were put on injured reserve prior to the Steelers game. Burfict was a very long shot after his second concussion in a month. His career also seems to be at risk with the amount of concussions reported at the NFL level reaching seven up to this point. Clearly the priority should be to make sure Burfict is okay going forward as a person.Ogbuehi is an ugly inactive as he has had issues even being active on Sunday’s this season. Even after Jake Fisher was lost for the season. Ogbuehi was a former first-round pick back in 2015, who will likely be looking for a job somewhere else after failing to shrug off the bust label in Cincinnati. Glenn’s injury would’ve likely propped him into the starting lineup http://www.thebengalslockerroom.com/authentic-preston-brown-jersey , but the team signed Smith so they wouldn’t be forced to do that. The Bengals’ injury report from Thursday didn’t change much from Wednesday, but there was one positive development in Shawn Williams’ status. The starting safety is dealing with a concussion that kept him out of practice Wednesday, but he returned for a limited session today. That means there’s a chance he plays Sunday, but even if he doesn’t, Clayton Fejedelem has proven to be a capable starter in his place. Still Womens Vontaze Burfict Jersey , you’d like to have a full deck when facing a Chiefs offense that’s arguably the best in football right now. The rest of the Bengals who were out Wednesday remained out today, including Giovani Bernard (knee/toe), Darqueze Dennard (sternoclavicular), Tyler Kroft (foot), Billy Price (foot) and Nick Vigil (knee). None of them are expected to be active this week Jordan Willis Jersey , and it won’t be a surprise if none of them play in Week 8 vs. the Buccaneers, giving them ample time to recover through the Week 9. Backup tight end C.J. Uzomah was limited again with a shoulder injury, putting his status for Sunday in doubt, which would be really bad with Kroft already sidelined. One other note: A.J. Green was listed as limited with a non-injury related issue. It’s unclear what that is, but Katherine Terrell reports it caused him to be late to practice. As for the Chiefs Womens Vincent Rey Jersey , they were again without center Mitch Morse (concussion), safety Eric Berry (heel) and Justin Houston (hamstring). All three players appear unlikely to play Sunday night.
