e McCaw et al may have departed, but the Bledisloe gap looked as wide as ever on Saturday night as New Zealand romped to a 42-8 Antworten

A day that began in controversy ended in complete embarrassment for Australian rugby as the Wallabies suffered one of their worst defeats on record. The Australian Rugby Union pleaded ignorance over the bug-gate scandal, but the Wallabies can do nothing but cower in disgrace and plead the fifth after they were outclassed by the All Blacks in every area of their Rugby Championship opener at ANZ Stadium. All Blacks great Dan Carter, Richie McCaw et al may have departed, but the Bledisloe gap looked as wide as ever on Saturday night as New Zealand romped to a 42-8 victory in Sydney.Simply, the Australians had no answer to New Zealands mix of speed, skill and strength. And Michael Cheikas mob only made it easy for the All Blacks as they lost lineouts, conceded tighthead scrums, and were basically just plain awful.Injuries to backs Matt Giteau, Matt Toomua and Rob Horne all before half-time certainly didnt help things, but it would have mattered little had even Toomua remained on the field such was the gulf in class at ANZ Stadium. The writing was on the wall after just six minutes when Ryan Crotty strolled down the left touchline, easily slipping by Dane Haylett-Petty for the games opening try. Little did the 65,328 fans on hand know, but the Wallabies were as good as done then. What followed was a half of rugby that had one pondering whether the Wallabies had actually trained together at all, while the All Blacks steamrolled to a 32-3 half-time lead. It was complete carnage. The Wallabies somehow avoided the concession of another try until the 27th minute, but Beauden Barretts five-pointer set the tone for a blistering finish to the first 40 in which Waisake Naholo and Jerome Kaino also crossed. Kainos effort was particularly embarrassing for Bernard Foley as the Australia fly-halfs deliberate kicking motion was brought undone by the backrowers charge down.Oh, to have been a fly on the wall in the Australian sheds at half-time; we can only imagine that similar things were screamed to those uttered by the All Blacks upon the discovery of the reported listening device at their Double Bay hotel. With one hand already on the Bledisloe - as if they had ever released their grip having held the trophy for 14 years -- All Blacks coach Steve Hansen looked to his backline bench at half-time; the names such as Aaron Cruden and Julian Savea listed among the replacements ensured there was no respite for the hosts.Cruden immediately went about his jinking ways while Savea was denied a five-pointer only by the dead-ball line in the 50th minute. But it was only a momentary glitch in transmission.Normal service resumed as Wallabies centre Tevita Kuridrani spilled a pass cold, seeing Malakai Fekitoa sprint away. The All Blacks centre was brought down just short of the line, but it mattered little as a quick shift wide saw Dane Coles duck back inside, stretch out, and touch down. Turns out his ribs were fine. The Wallabies barely had time to glance up at the mess the scoreboard had become before Savea got the try he was denied earlier. At that point, it was a record Bledisloe defeat for Australia with 20 minutes still to play. For the Australians in the crowd, there was a silence of disbelief; for the Kiwis - of which there were plenty - there was nothing but complete and utter joy.Unfortunately for those wearing black, the All Blacks just relaxed a little and the odd mistake crept into their game. As for the Australian fans, a Bronx cheer for a lineout win told the story; though they did enjoy a genuine smile when All Blacks skipper Kieran Read was sin-binned late on.So, too, when Nick Phipps scored a try from the wing shortly after, although that was cold comfort as the scrum-halfs place on the flank illustrated the Wallabies horror injury predicament. But Phipps try was the only blip on an otherwise glorious night for New Zealand rugby, and the blackest of black days for their Australian counterparts.Just how the Wallabies pick themselves up ahead of return match in Wellington next week is anyones guess, and theres unlikely to be Giteau, Toomua or Horne to consider for selection either. They might be best doing a Ryan Lochte and skipping town before the sun comes up.And the All Blacks? They remain the Usain Bolt of world rugby -- not that you probably ever doubted it. The NRL career of wayward back-rower Paul Carter is in tatters after his sacking by South Sydney. The 24-year-old had his contract torn up on Tuesday by the Rabbitohs board after breaching the clubs code of conduct and clauses in his contract.Carter was axed after he failed to turn up to training following a bender and last week checked himself into a Thai rehabilitation facility. The board has made a decision today to terminate Pauls contract immediately as a result of his recent conduct, Rabbitohs chairman Shane Richardson said.We have given Paul all of the support, and every opportunity, to get his career and life back on track but, unfortunately, he has been unable to meet the standards we had agreed when Paul joined the club. This is a bigger issue than footbaall for Paul.ddddddddddddNeedless to say, we will continue to provide welfare, support and assistance to Paul in his continuing rehabilitation.Carter, the son of Penrith great Steve, has a troubled history with alcohol and, in 2014, was sacked by Gold Coast for repeat drink-driving offences.Following his exit from the Titans, he begged for a second chance and was thrown a lifeline by the Rabbitohs. He returned at the back end of last season and, last month, was granted a contract extension until the end of 2018.However, he again went off the rails and was stood down alongside Kirisome Auvaa for failing to fulfil their training duties.
