LAFAYETTE, Louisiana -- Scott Farmer has announced that he will no longer serve as director of athletics for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Farmer stepped down Tuesday after holding the position the last five years.The announcement did not detail why Farmer is leaving the position.The university plans to promote former deputy of director of athletics Dr. Jessica Leger to interim athletic director while the school looks for a permanent replacement. Legers assignment must be approved by the board of supervisors of the University of Louisiana System.Farmer will now teach in the school of kinesiology after seeing the athletic budget double during his tenure. GREEN BAY, Wis. --?Packers defensive tackle Mike Pennel filed a lawsuit in an Ohio federal court against the NFL and the NFL Players Association as a result of an apparent second suspension for violating the leagues substance-abuse policy, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.Pennel, who already was suspended for the first four games of this season, wants a judge to appoint a third arbitrator to hear his case and asked the court to put his appeal hearing on hold until that person is appointed.In the suit, Pennel alleges that the arbitrator currently assigned to hear his case was improperly assigned and that the league and its management council failed to abide by the arbitrator selection and assignment provisions after Pennel received notice of a suspension on Nov. 8. Pennel, according to the suit, filed an appeal three days later.
