BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana coach Tom Crean doesnt have a timetable for OG Anunobys return from a sprained ankle. For now, the 13th-ranked Hoosiers are going to have to step up and even overcompensate on some nights to make up for the absence of one of their biggest playmakers. On Friday night, it was Juwan Morgan who answered the call.Juwan rebounded for two tonight, Crean said. He came out and brought it. When you take OG (Anunoby) out of the lineup, you take so much athleticism, versatility, you take shooting, take the rebounding, the defense out. I thought our guys tried to do a really good job of making up for that. And Juwan did even more there.Morgan scored a career-high 18 points on 8-for-8 shooting and finished with 10 rebounds, DeRon Davis scored 14 points and Indiana rolled to an 83-60 victory over SIU-Edwardsville.The Hoosiers didnt start the game firing on all cylinders. Indiana (6-1) didnt make its first basket until 16:12 remaining in the first half, missing its first eight attempts. Trailing 4-0, the Hoosiers shook off the slow start when Zach McRoberts hit a 3-pointer from the corner that ignited Indiana. The Hoosiers would finish the final 15 minutes of the half outscoring SIU-Edwardsville 40-17.Led by Morgan, the Hoosiers efforts on the glass eliminated opportunities for SIU-Edwardsville (4-4) to score second chance points. Indiana grabbed 30 defensive rebounds. Indianas 15 offensive rebounds led to the Hoosiers outscoring the Cougars 17-5 in second-chance points. But the Hoosiers second chance points opportunities were non-existent if Morgan was shooting the ball. The sophomore didnt miss all night, making each of his eight shot attempts and the only 3-pointer he attempted.I feel like Im scratching the surface, Morgan said. I think just mentally Ive been thinking too much about shooting, things like that. My teammates look to give me the ball. And I look to have big games. But it was just a good night for us as a team.Indiana molded the rest of the basketball game around an aggressive rebounding effort, ball movement and its depth. The Hoosiers dominated the glass, outrebounding the Cougars 45-31. Indianas offense revolved around ball movement, as 15 of Indianas 28 field goals came by way of an assist with nine Hoosiers recording at least one assist. And the Hoosiers bench outscored SIU-Edwardsvilles 34-12.Burak Eslik finished with 18 points for SIU-Edwardsville. SIU-Edwardsville coach Jon Harris was familiar with Crean having played for and coached with Crean while he was at Marquette. Harris called Friday nights loss, where the Hoosiers led by as many as 33 points, disappointing.Theres a reason why they are ranked No. 13 in America, Harris said. (Indiana is) a great team. I really think theyre a high level offensive team. We let them get going and that was the difference and the separation early (in the game).BIG PICTURE: Anunoby watched the Hoosiers victory from the bench, where he sat in a walking boot. He used crutches when he entered and exited the court from the locker room. He sprained his right ankle during the Hoosiers 76-67 win over No. 3 North Carolina on Wednesday. On Friday night, Crean told reporters he does not believe the ankle sprain is a long-term injury that could keep Anunoby out well into Indianas conference schedule, despite not having a definitive timetable on Anunobys return.POLL IMPLICATIONS: After a thrilling victory over No. 3 North Carolina on Wednesday night, Indiana will have two weeks before it plays a ranked opponent, when Indiana takes on No. 18 Butler at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.UP NEXT:SIU-Edwardsville hosts Stetson on Wednesday.Indiana hosts Southeast Missouri State on Sunday.---More AP college basketball: www.collegebasketball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25. (STATS) -- Eastern Washington has powered its way into the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs behind the divisions top passing attack.Richmond gladly welcomes the challenge of trying to contain superstars Gage Gubrud and Cooper Kupp.It will be strength against strength when the Eagles have the ball Saturday, as the 12th-ranked Spiders bring one of the best pass defenses in the FCS to third-ranked Eastern Washington.Much has been made of the Eagles dynamic passing game, and Central Arkansas thought it had a way to bottle it up in last weekends second-round matchup. It turns out, that strategy just prolonged the pain, as second-seeded Eastern Washington (11-1) rallied for a 31-14 victory. The Bears focused on taking away the deep ball and gave the Eagles the underneath, so Gubrud methodically marched his team down the field with short, easy passes. He attempted 64 throws -- the most by an EWU quarterback since 2011 -- and completed 47 to 11 receivers for 449 yards. He scrambled for 68 yards and scored on the ground for the Eagles, who were also buoyed by a defense that didnt allow a point in the second half, forced two turnovers and permitted a season-low 244 yards.Even though we didnt score as many points as weve been averaging, we found a way to win the turnover battle 2-0, coach Beau Baldwin said. When you take care of the ball in the playoffs and dont turn it over at all, and are able to get a couple, that leads to wins -- it flat out does.Richmond (10-3) is 10th in the FCS in turnover margin (plus-11) and brimming with confidence after rallying from 17 down in the final 16 minutes in last weekends thrilling 27-24 win at No. 8 North Dakota. Griffin Trau drilled an 18-yard field goal -- his FCS-leading 23rd -- as time expired to send the Spiders into the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.I cant be more proud of this football team, Richmond coach Danny Rocco said. The toughness they put on display was phenomenal.Last Saturdays point total was a season low for the Eagles, who are third in the FCS in scoring at 43.1 per game. They are also second in total offense (541.7 per game) and first in passing yards (412.3) as they get set to match up with a Spiders team which ranks fifth against the pass (160.8).Richmond has allowed 13 passing touchdowns and opponents are averaging 6.39 yards per attempt.I dont know weve faced a defense thats as disciplined and plays as a team as well as they do, Baldwin said. The Spiders, however, have not seen an offense that airs it out as well as the Eagles.ddddddddddddubrud leads the FCS with 4,535 passing yards, is second with 42 touchdowns, third in completion percentage at 68.7 and fifth in yards per pass at 8.98. The sophomore, who also leads the FCS in total offense with 5,066 yards, has the luxury of throwing to one of the most decorated receivers in FCS history.Kupps 101 receptions are the second-most in the FCS while his 126.5 receiving yards per game rank first. He owns 15 FCS receiving records, including career receptions (412), receiving yards (6,156) and touchdown catches (70). Last seasons STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year is one of the top three in the voting for the 2016 STATS FCS Walter Payton Award along with Gubrud. The two were also both named the Big Skys Offensive Player of the Year -- the first time two players from the same school won that award.Fellow senior receivers Shaq Hill (1,077) and Kendrick Bourne (1,056) have also each topped the 1,000-yard mark and have combined for 21 receiving touchdowns, presenting further matchup problems for the Spiders.Their wide receiving corps is probably as talented as any weve seen, Rocco said. The Spiders have a pretty great receiver of their own in Brian Brown. The first-team All-CAA selection is second in the FCS in receiving yards with 1,441 and averages 18.7 per reception.Deontez Thompson shoulders the ground game, having set a Richmond freshman-record with 927 rushing yards. While Gubrud threw the ball 64 times last week, Richmonds Kevin Johnson has attempted 52 passes in his entire career. The Spiders had been sitting Johnson this season but removed the redshirt after All-CAA second-team selection Kyle Lauletta suffered an ACL tear in the regular-season finale. Johnson has exceeded all expectations as an emergency fill-in, completing 30 of 45 passes for 604 yards with three touchdowns and running in another two scores in the two playoff games.Laulettas season-ending injury is one of 18 Richmond has had to overcome this year. The team has also put aside the rumors Rocco is unhappy with the administration and is going to take the Delaware job.Theyve obviously gone through a lot of injuries, but to be where they are now, still, its a testament to the team that they are, Kupp said. This will be the first meeting between these programs, and the winner faces either No. 13 Youngstown State or 19th-ranked Wofford in the semifinals.
