Veteran wide receiver Lance Moore retired from the NFL on Monday, the Atlanta Falcons announced.Moore had signed with the Falcons on Friday to compete for the No. 5 wide receiver spot. He played 10 seasons, finishing with 389 receptions for 4,816 yards and 44 touchdowns.Moore reflected on his career in a Facebook post, writing that he always prided myself in playing for the right reasons and respecting the game. At this point if I were to continue to play I would no longer be doing that.Ive got a lot of respect for him as a man, Falcons coach Dan Quinn said. I thought it was real admirable, his approach. What a pro to say, If my heart is not in it, I want to make sure Im not taking the opportunity from somebody else. I thought, Man, what a classy guy.I wish him the best. A guy like that you know is going to be very successful past football.Moore, who will turn 33 on Aug. 31, had a career revival with the Lions in 2015 after signing a one-year deal with Detroit last offseason. He had 29 catches for 337 yards and four touchdowns as the teams No. 3 receiver. The longtime Saints stalwart spent nine seasons in New Orleans and was a key receiver on the franchises Super Bowl-winning team in 2009.Hes one of the best receivers that has played here. The thing that stands out, man, he was consistent, and he would come up big on third down, in the red area. Had a tremendous career, Saints coach Sean Payton said Monday.Moores best statistical seasons were 2008 and 2012. He caught 79 passes for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008, and hauled in 65 receptions for 1,041 yards and six scores in 12.He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2005.Youre always fond of those guys that start on first base. And Lance -- he started in the dugout. Played over in Europe, then on a practice squad, then worked his way into the starting lineup, was a part of our championship run, Payton said. The game will miss a guy like him. Hes outstanding.Between New Orleans and Detroit, Moore spent one season in Pittsburgh, where he caught 14 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns.ESPNs Vaughn McClure, Mike Triplett and Michael Rothstein contributed to this report. Pierre Turgeon Canadiens Jersey . The Vikings announced Thursday that Priefer will be one of seven holdovers from the previous staff, along with offensive line coach Jeff Davidson, wide receivers coach George Stewart and others. Norv Turner will mark his 30th year of coaching in the NFL as the offensive co-ordinator, as widely reported for weeks, and George Edwards will be the defensive co-ordinator. Shea Weber Jersey . The (11-11-4) Jets are seventh in the Central Division with 26 points. Fifth place Dallas and sixth-seeded Nashville also have 26 points, but the Stars have three games in hand on Winnipeg while Nashville has two. . -- For the first time in two months, an opponent was standing up to Alabama. Ken Dryden Canadiens Jersey . Robinson finished with 17 points, all but two in the second half, and Lawson had 14 after halftime and finished with a game-high 11 assists as the Nuggets handed Dallas its first home loss in eight games this season. J.J. Hickson led Denver with 22, and Kenneth Faried added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Dominic Moore Jersey . The move comes after the Canadiens were approached by the Buffalo Sabres for permission to speak to Dudley - a former Sabres player and head coach. "The Sabres called for permission and I appreciate that, Im flattered, Dudley told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN. PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles sideline was fuming after a brutal hit by Washington Redskins safety Deshazor Everett on a defenseless Darren Sproles early in the fourth quarter on Sunday, and plenty of players were still simmering in the locker room afterward.Obvious cheap shot. Darren was trying to field the ball, the guy hits him before the ball gets there, said tight end Zach Ertz. Ive honestly never seen the guy before, didnt know who he was going into the game, and if thats how he wants to make a name for himself, then so be it.I thought it was B.S. Darren didnt even have the ball, and the guy tried to take his head off. He tried to take Brent [Celek]s head off, kind of knocked him out of the game, too. I dont know who that guy is, but yeah, I thought it was B.S.With just under 12 minutes remaining, Sproles sprinted forward to field a Washington punt. While tracking the ball, Everett crashed into Sproles, who took the blow primarily to the head and was shot backward, hitting the turf hard. He then left the game to be evaluated for a head injury. The scuffle that followed was eventually broken up by the refs. Tackle Jason Peters, who famously drilled Washington defensive lineman Chris Baker after his vicious hit on quarterback Nicck Foles in 2014, decided he could not afford to be ejected this time around.ddddddddddddI was just thinking: Im about to get this guy. That was a cheap shot, said Peters, who led an Eagles pack that swarmed to Sproles defense.I wanted to get him. I was going to get him. But I dont have a backup right now. I just couldnt get thrown out of the game, and I just had to step back and let the referees handle it. But I wanted to get him.Everett contended that it wasnt an intentionally dirty hit.Football is a split-second game, and unfortunately I did not make the right decision, but I was just giving my full effort to go out there and make a tackle, he said.My condolences to him, and you never wish that to happen to anyone.Sproles, 33, ranks eighth in NFL history in all-purpose yards. Weighing in at 5-foot-6, 190 pounds, he has earned respect league-wide for his work ethic and accomplishments over 11 seasons.Thats a possible Hall-of-Famer. Dudes got respect from people all around the league, said linebacker Mychal Kendricks. And I dont know who 22 is, but hopefully he has the same amount of respect for him. ' ' '
