Labor Day turned out to be pretty laborious for The Eliminator.Following four days of incredible upsets, thrilling finishes, memorable debuts and more than a handful of epic comebacks, I need a week to catch my breath and get some rest. On paper, Week 2 doesnt figure to be as unpredictable. But isnt that what we always say about the weekends that end up being the craziest?The opening weekend wasnt nearly as enjoyable for a handful of teams from the Power 5 conferences. Washington State, Iowa State and Virginia all fell to FCS foes.?It also wasnt a strong opening weekend for the SEC - considered by many to be the sports best conference. SEC teams lost to opponents from Conference USA and the Sun Belt, and SEC East favorite Tennessee needed overtime to beat Appalachian State. Seven ranked teams lost in the first week -- the most to fall in their openers in AP Top 25 history. Defending national champion Alabama was among the few teams that actually looked dominant in its opener. The Crimson Tide blasted USC 52-6 in Arlington, Texas, which was the Trojans worst opening loss in program history. As a result, the Crimson Tide get the No. 1 seed. Florida State earned the No. 2 seed after rallying from a 22-point deficit to beat Ole Miss 45-34 in Orlando, Florida, on Monday night. It was the largest comeback in FSU history. Ohio State is the No. 3 seed after blasting Bowling Green 77-10. I could have easily gone with Michigan, which routed Hawaii 63-3 in its opener, but Ill give the edge to the Buckeyes because of quarterback J.T. Barrett. Finally, Houston is the No. 4 seed after upsetting Oklahoma 33-23 on Saturday.
