PHILADELPHIA -- Whether the motivation came from within or from a challenge from his manager, Tommy Joseph certainly has responded.Joseph homered, doubled and drove in three runs Wednesday night, leading the Philadelphia Phillies over the Chicago White Sox 8-3.Earlier this month, Joseph was struggling and found himself on the bench. Since then, hes hit .480 in his last seven games.Josephs homer off White Sox ace Chris Sale was his 21st of the season, third-best among big league rookies.Manager Pete Mackanin had stated Joseph needed to be better at the plate. Joseph said a self-assessment is what helped him break out.The challenge came from within myself, Joseph said. When it comes from Pete, it gets out there publicly.Joseph hit an RBI double in the first inning. He connected for a two-run homer off Sale (16-9) in the third.I was just trying to attack strikes, Joseph said. Hes a good enough pitcher where if he gets ahead of you, hes going to make you pay. So that was our collective game plan as a team, to capitalize on his mistake early in the count.Cameron Rupp, Maikel Franco and Cesar Hernandez all had two-hit games for the Phillies. Hernandez hit his 10th triple of the season, tied for second best in the majors, and has reached base safely in 26 consecutive games.Philadelphia has won four of five. The White Sox have lost five in a row.It was the second-shortest outing of the season for Sale, and it snapped his run of six consecutive starts of at least eight innings. In four starts this season against NL teams, Sale is 0-4 with an 8.72 ERA.Jerad Eickhoff (11-13) pitched seven innings and gave up six hits, including three solo home runs, while striking out six.Eickhoff was relieved to get some offense from his teammates as he entered the game with the third-worst run support in the NL.To get that run support is huge off a guy like Sale, Eickhoff said. Its just awesome. These guys are battling, fighting their way through each at-bat. We just found ways to put runners on base and get guys home.Adam Eaton led off the game with a home run Todd Frazier hit his 38th in the seventh and Alex Avila followed with a drive in the seventh.Phillies outfielder Tyler Goeddel had to leave the game in the sixth after being hit in the head by reliever Chris Beck.Goeddel was the fourth Philadelphia player to be hit in the game, tying a franchise record that last occurred in 1960. Sale hit three batters.Everyone is entitled to have a bad night and tonight was mine, unfortunately. It would have been nice to sneak out of here with a win but I was just awful tonight, Sale said.ODDITYEickhoff has allowed seven home runs in his last two starts, but only six earned runs. Six of the seven homers have been solo shots. The seventh was a three-run homer, but all three runs were unearned because of an earlier error. Eickhoff has given up 29 homers this season, tying Brandon Finnegan of Cincinnati for the most in the NL.THIS AND THATEatons homer led off the game. It was the fifth time hes done that this season and ninth time in his career. ... Phillies OF Roman Quinn reached base four times without a hit (two walks, twice hit by a pitch).UP NEXTWhite Sox: RHP Miguel Gonzalez (4-7, 3.83) faces Indians RHP Trevor Bauer (11-8, 4.24) in the opener of a three-game series in Cleveland on Friday night.Phillies: LHP Adam Morgan (2-10, 5.49) take on Mets RHP Seth Lugo (4-2, 2.35) in the opener of a four-game series in New York on Thursday night. SEATTLE -- Steven Hauschkas 44-yard field goal with 1:57 remaining capped the 20th career fourth quarter or overtime comeback for Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, and the Seahawks pulled out a wild 26-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. After watching Matt Ryan blitz the Seahawks for 21 third-quarter points, it was Wilsons turn in the fourth quarter. He led a 70-yarddrive that was capped by Christine Michaels 1-yard run with 4:47 left, but a blocked extra point by RaShede Hageman still had Seattle trailing 24-23.Seattle then got a needed big play from its defense. Ryans pass slipped through Julio Jones hands, was tipped in the air by Richard Sherman and eventually landed in the arms of Earl Thomas, giving Seattle possession at midfield with 3:48 remaining. It was the first time in the game that Jones was targeted and didnt make the catch.Seattle stalled at the Atlanta 26. This time Hauschka was perfect after missing a 29-yard attempt earlier in the fourth quarter, the result of a bad snap.Ryan was incomplete on his last four throws, including a breakup by Sherman on a long pass to Jones on which the Falcons screamed for a pass interference flag.Wilson was 25 of 37 for 270 yards. Michael had two touchdown runs and rookie Alex Collins added his first NFL touchdown on a 2-yard run.Atlantas top-ranked offense was stymied by the leagues best defense for a half, only to rally in the third quarter and nearly pull off a sweep of Denver and Seattle.Seattle dominated the line of scrimmage in the first half, hitting Ryan eight times, sacking him three times and holding the Falcons to 86 total yards. Which made what happened in the second half a shocking turnaround.Ryan finished 27 of 42 for 335 yards and three touchdowns. He hit Jones for a 36-yard score on the first drive of the second half; found Mohamed Sanu on a 10-yard TD; and later connected with Levine Toilolo on a 46-yarder as the Falcons ralliied from a 14-point halftime deficit to lead 24-17 going to the fourth quarter.ddddddddddddJones had seven catches for 139 yards.RYANS THIRD QUARTERIt was stunning. He was 13 of 17 for 220 yards and three TDs. Since the start of the 2014 season, the Seahawks have held 25 teams to less than 220 yards passing for an entire game.It helped that Ryan got two huge chunk plays on blown coverages. The first was Jones 36-yard touchdown catch , and later Toilolos 46-yard TD catch on a similar play.SHERMAN ERUPTIONSherman lost his cool on the Seattle sideline following Jones TD catch early in the third quarter. Shermans anger was at the blown coverage that led to Jones being wide open down the sideline, but he was unable to control his emotions on the sideline and was screaming at coaches and teammates. Thomas, Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett and injured Kam Chancellor all took turns trying to calm Sherman.MOUNTING INJURIESSeattle was without Chancellor (groin) and defensive end Frank Clark (hamstring). Then Bennett hyperextended his right knee on the play when Sanu caught his touchdown pass to tie the game at 17. Bennett was cut-blocked by Jake Matthews and eventually limped to the locker room. Bennett returned to the sideline midway through the fourth quarter, but did not re-enter the game.Tight end Luke Willson also injured his right leg on Michaels late touchdown.STREAK CONTINUESFor the first half it looked like it would be a struggle, but Ryan continued his streak of throwing for at least 200 yards in 44 straight road games. Ryan had just 83 yards passing in the first half, but threw for 252 yard in the second half.UP NEXT:The Falcons are home for San Diego. The Seahawks are at division rival Arizona on Sunday night.---AP NFL website: and Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys China NFL Hoodies Cheap NFL Jerseys Camo Wholesale Jerseys 2019 NFL Jerseys Cheap Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic NFL Jerseys From China Discount NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys From China Cheap NFL T-shirts Wholesale NFL Gear NFL Jerseys China NFL Jerseys Cheap Cheap Jerseys 2020 Cheap NFL Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Cheap NFL Autographed Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
