Former Sussex seamer Lewis Hatchett is forging a new career as a motivational speaker, inspiring others with the remarkable story of how he overcame a disability to become a professional cricketer.Hatchett was born with Poland Syndrome, a rare condition which appears in only one in 100,000 births and which affects one side of the body in different ways. In Hatchetts case he is missing his right pectoral muscle and the two ribs that would have been behind it, which means his chest is visibly sunken on that part of his body, leaving complications that he has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. His right shoulder muscles overcompensated for the missing pectoral, causing these muscles to be over-used and they become fatigued quickly, resulting in aches, burning sensations and headaches daily along with his right chest offering little protection to his right lung.Although he was advised as a youngster not to play contact sports, Hatchetts determination helped him to overcome his condition. He spent six years as a professional with Sussex, taking 102 wickets in 53 first-team matches in all competitions, and batting in a bullet-proof vest.He was advised to retire at the end of last season because of a lower-back complaint.Hatchett is still adjusting to life outside the Sussex dressing room but he has kept busy by helping his brother Bradley in a business networking business, works as a personal trainer - a course he took with the help of PCA funding while he was playing - and has also begun a career as a motivational speaker. The more I have spoken about my condition and my path into the game, the more I have realised how rare this story is, Hatchett said. Its not just relevant to people with disabilities. A lot of the people who have heard me speak dont have a disability, but tell me that, having heard my story, they realise that they dont have a reason to complain about things that they think are wrong in their own lives.I believe that there are so many messages in my story that are transferable to all aspects of life and I am really enjoying telling it. Each time I speak I get better and the feedback is brilliant.Hatchett was not always so comfortable in discussing his condition and for a long time he hid it so that it could not be used as an excuse to not select him.I protected it because I didnt want to give anyone the chance to use it against me, to not pick me or to drop me. I could accept not being selected for my cricket, but not my body, that wasnt an option in my eyes, he said.I worked incredibly hard to make myself the fittest player in the team so no one could use my body against me. I know I did everything possible to play professional cricket and probably went further than I ever should have.My family never made it a big deal. I have a younger brother who is fully able-bodied. We competed against each for years and I didnt see myself as any different for him.I wasnt put in cotton wool. I wasnt protected from anything. As a youngster I knew I wasnt the best player around, but I knew I could work harder than everyone else I came up against and Id give myself a chance, which is what I did.Hatchetts condition meant that he had to work hard to develop his leading right arm for bowling and catching. The vulnerability of his right chest meant that, if struck, the consequences could have been fatal and so he had a specially-designed vest made out of Kevlar to protect the right side of his chest while batting. The chest guard was something I had built in my second year of being a pro because I realised that chest guards that you get off the shelf werent going to cut the mustard with bowlers bowling up to 90mph, Hatchett said. The Kevlar chest guard is literally bulletproof, so when I was batting I could say to bowlers, Im bulletproof! Air Force 1 Haute Homme . McCarthy, a player who played some games in the second tier for Wigan at the start of this season, would go on to shine inside Evertons midfield, outplaying the man he was brought in to replace, on one of the grandest stages in English football. On Saturday, it was fitting that Manchester Uniteds most recent dagger into the chest was delivered by Frenchman Yohan Cabaye, a wonderfully gifted central midfielder who put on an outstanding effort for Newcastle at Old Trafford. Air Force 1 Low Homme Pas Cher .J. -- Marty Brodeur beat the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again. http://www.siteairforce1pascher.fr/air-force-1-low-soldes/basket-basse-noir.html . -- Teemu Selanne scored the first goal of his 22nd NHL season, and the Anaheim Ducks extended the best start in franchise history with their fifth straight victory, 3-2 over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. Air Force 1 France .S. -- Nikolaj Ehlers registered a hat trick for the third straight game and Jonathan Drouin had a goal and five assists as the Halifax Mooseheads hammered the host Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 10-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. Air Force 1 Low Utility Pas Cher . Murray beat Sam Querrey 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-3 to clinch Britains opening-round victory against the United States on Sunday at Petco Park. "Im proud of the way Im playing just now, because I had to do a lot of work to get back to where I want to be," Murray said after celebrating with his teammates on the red clay court in a temporary stadium in left field of the downtown home of baseballs San Diego Padres. OAKLAND, Calif. -- Ron Washington shook his head, a bemused look on his face. He had a towel draped over his shoulders and was still wet from the beer shower provided by his players. Derek Holland gave up four hits in eight stellar innings, Nelson Cruz and Mitch Moreland each hit a home run and Washington became the winningest manager in Rangers history as Texas beat the Oakland Athletics 4-0 on Sunday. "Im not a fan of the cold stuff," Washington said. "I had to stand there and endure it. Any success you have in life, there are others who helped get you there." Washington, who coached for Oakland for 11 years, passed Bobby Valentine with his 582nd win. "Yes it means a lot to me," he said. "I came here as a novice and in seven years won the most games in Rangers history. This organization gave me the chance and the players kept winning ballgames." Adrian Beltre had two hits and drove in a run for the Rangers, who have won six of seven to move within 2 1-2 games of the AL West Division leading Athletics. "Its a pretty cool accomplishment and hes going to get a lot more," Rangers infielder Ian Kinsler said. "Hes grow up with this organization and established a winning environment." Nate Freiman had two hits for the As, who have lost four of five. Holland (9-6) walked two and matched his season high with 10 strikeouts as he ended a personal two-game losing streak. "Weve had a strong relationship," Holland said of Washington. "He even comes out to the mound instead of (Mark) Maddux. Hes a great guy for me. I love playing for him." A.J. Griffin (10-8) lasted 6 2-3 innings, allowing four runs -- three earned -- on five hits. He walked one and struck out seven. Griffin has allowed a major-league leading 28 home runs this season and became the first Oakland pitcher to give up two or more in four consecutive starts since Mark Redman did it in 2007. "Thats the best Ive seen Holland pitch in quite a while," As manager Bob Melvin said. "The inside zone was there for him, which made the changeup really tough to deal with." Holland, who has an 0.81 ERA in his nine wins, beat the As for the fifth straight time. He also improved to 7-1 in 12 road starts. "Oakland is in first place for a reason," Holland said. "Were gaining ground on thhem for a reason too.dddddddddddd" Joe Nathan walked Josh Donaldson and allowed an infield single to Yoenis Cespedes to open the ninth. He got pinch hitter Brandon Moss to ground into a force out and got Alberto Callapso to hit into a game-ending double play. The Rangers took advantage of a two-out fielding error by Cespedes in the first inning to take the early lead. Kinsler reached second on the play and scored when Beltre singled. Cruz led off the second inning with his 27th homer of the year and Moreland hit a two-run shot in the seventh. "Its pretty frustrating," Griffin said of Morelands home run. "To pitch well for 6 2-3 innings and to have that happen, its frustrating." Meanwhile, Holland did not allow a runner past second base. He retired 14 of 15 batters during one stretch.
