The College Football Playoff on Thursday announced recusal assignments for the 2016 season, and new selection committee members Herb Deromedi, Rob Mullens and Jeff Bower have been added to the list.The recusals for the 2016 are as follows: Jeff Long (Arkansas); Deromedi (Central Michigan); Dan Radakovich (Clemson); Tyrone Willingham (Duke?and Stanford); Mullens (Oregon); Bower (Southern Mississippi); Condoleezza Rice (Stanford); Kirby Hocutt (Texas Tech); Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin). The recusal policy means that a committee member is prohibited from voting for a team because they or an immediate family member receives compensation from the school or has a professional relationship with that school.Recused committee members are allowed to answer only factual questions about their respective school affiliations but arent allowed in the room during any deliberations regarding that teams selection or seeding.The recusal assignments were part of the 12-member selection committees meetings this week in Dana Point, California, the groups final meeting of the season before they gather again in Dallas to determine the first ranking of the season on Nov. 1.The group reviewed its plans for the season, the meeting schedule and the protocol, CFP executive director Bill Hancock said. The CFP has not yet determined the conference point persons for each league. Typically, each committee member is assigned two FBS conferences to monitor and report on throughout the season.We didnt feel like we had a deadline today, but were getting close, Hancock said. They did a mock assignment. They didnt go through selecting the top 25 teams, but they did start with a top 25 teams list and assign them to the bowl games. This planning meeting is really the last step before the meeting.Hancock said that Lloyd Carr, who stepped down from the committee for personal reasons, would have been replaced if his decision had come sooner. Hancock said all new members need to be on board before August to attend these meetings.
